Lessons learned are like bridges burned; we can’t relive yesterday, but we can take the Light from the lesson and it will help us find the way…
They say that when we shuffle off this mortal coil, our entire life flashes before our eyes—a sort of celestial movie marathon featuring our life’s greatest hits and bloopers. But why wait until the credits roll to get the inside scoop? Why wouldn’t the Universe give us this nifty highlight reel, say, during our daily commute or while we’re waiting for our coffee to brew? If this is supposed to be a karmic crash course to help us prep for our next gig on Earth, wouldn’t it make more sense to get the memo sooner rather than later? I’m a big fan of self-inquiry and self-awareness. It’s like an intentional guided journey, a personal GPS through the rough terrains of life. So, if you are up for it, here are a few probing questions to prime the pump for you:
- Do you have habits that seem to unexpectedly pop up like a bad penny, no matter how hard you try to lose them?
- Are you sharp enough to catch yourself making the same mistakes ad infinitum, or do you find yourself facepalming in hindsight?
- Does it ever feel like Groundhog Day with some of your more maddening experiences?
- Wouldn’t it be fabulous if we had a personalized “auto-bio-feedback” app that could ping us with “instant karma” alerts? Imagine, every night at 9 PM, you get a mental notification with the day’s top three teachable moments. Talk about binge-worthy content! The Universe could give us a daily digest of our karmic lessons, so we don’t have to keep re-watching the same old reruns.
Perhaps the Universe has us on “auto-pilot” because it knows we’re too busy scrolling through life’s feed to notice the real lessons hidden between the lines of the daily grind. Wouldn’t it be great if we could get those lessons delivered right now, like a cosmic Amazon Prime for life’s wisdom? Maybe we need to reach a certain level of “teachable” before these lessons can be received (sometimes like a ton of bricks—or preferably a gentle nudge).
THE TAKE AWAY: What lesson might Life be trying to teach you today? More importantly, are you willing to learn it now instead of ignoring it or waiting until you’re signing out for the last time? The Universe is constantly broadcasting lessons on the divine do-over channel, just waiting for us to tune in. If you find yourself stuck in a loop of less-than-stellar experiences, remember that feedback is on a continual loop, too. It’s a gift from beyond the Ethers, like Life’s way of sending us spiritual text messages: “Hey, maybe try something different this time!”
So, the big question remains: Why wait for the final curtain call when you can start learning your lessons now? YOU DON’T HAVE TO WAIT! Your Life Review is a rite of passage worth exploring daily while you can do something about it. Responding rather than reacting to the information provided is the mark of a wise person. After all, life’s too short to keep hitting the snooze button on our karmic alarm clock.
Perhaps it’s time to put in for a wake-up call.
Hi Nick…thanks for your note. Regarding learning my Life lessons daily, I try to remain as mindful and aware as possible. What I have learned is when I am present in the moment and aware (in touch) with my emotional and physical body AND willing to pay attention to the sensations that are always rippling through both, I receive the information I need. For me, it’s about paying attention and not avoiding the intuitive Self which is continually trying to get my attention. I appreciate your process and your questions very much. Thanks again for connecting!

Hi, Dennis,
I agree that learning life’s lessons as we go rather than waiting until it is too late is a good idea! I wonder what is the best way to do it. What works best for you?
I find taking talking to someone who listens to me wholeheartedly works well. This helps me think better and shift bad habits. It would be very costly to use a professional coach or counsellor. It’s more sensible and more effective it take turns with a friend or colleague. Twenty minutes each way once or twice a month makes a world of difference.
I have also drawn sketches and written poems and articles to get my thoughts clearer.
Thanks for sharing a thought provoking article. Best wishes, Nick
