Wishes
To hug
Children
Grandchildren
In strong, soft
Arms in the
Many minutes
A chocolate cake
Takes to
Bake.
To hold hands
With Dear
Friends
Feeling the warmth
Of skin touch
as they
Grieve.
To trust
That
Deaths
Protests
Dangerous Decisions
Violence
Systemic Oppression
Implode
Giving
Rise
To
Transformation
Transcendence
Equality
Wellness
Justice
Peace
Oneness.
To make
Mundane choices
Standing, gazing at
Favorite nutritious foods, clear
Preferences in a
Garden. A simple
Joy never again to
Be taken for
Granted.
For large and
Small gatherings of
People.
Being
Able to look, to
Breathe in
Beautiful faces, smiles,
Shining eyes,
Tearful.
How exceptional
What used to seem
So ordinary.
For a celebration of humanity
Multifaceted
Multidimensional
Multitalented
Complex
Diverse
Rich, Glorious
Expressions of Uniqueness
Connected in
The Heart of
Grief, Tenderness,
Love, Compassion,
Courage, Dignity,
Empathy, and humility.
Awakened in Conscious
Responsive
Contribution.
For Soul Freedom
Soaring
Unbounded, unleashed,
Untamed,
Unwavering, unrelenting
Everywhere.
For a planet
That revers life
Itself, humming
In harmony with grasses,
Trees, bees, bears, deer, snakes,
Turtles, birds, glorious
Blue hydrangea bushes,
Purple iris, lakes, rivers,
Mountains, oceans.
For a restorative night’s
Sleep knowing in
Your weary bones
That radical imagination
Remains
Essential
For
Our
Extraordinary
Existence.

Thank you so much, Darlene. Grateful for your kind words. Happy Friday and may you have a wonderful weekend!! 🙂
Great poem Laura, just finished teaching a week’s summer writing camp to students teaching Haiku’s and poetry, pros, etc, love piecer. I think there will be some up and coming poetry writers.
Oh, Lynn, that’s wonderful! I imagine the students enjoyed the experience of exploring the world of poetry and all types of writing. The domain of poetry can open up some windows or air vents-and all kinds of realms of the imagination. I continue to be forever grateful for the poetry of Mary Oliver and Maya Angelou (all of Maya Angelou’s writing) as well as Nikki Giovanni and many others. I’m so thrilled for you that you had this experience of being in service to all those students at summer camp. I’m certain they enjoyed having the opportunity to work with you-to be inspired by you! Thank you so much for your kind words. Thank you for being YOU!! I wish you a wonderful weekend!
How very beautiful, Laura! So many gifts you bring!
