I sit in the mist by the harbor
Watching light grey clouds melt into dark grey water
Wind gusts howl and shake the structure
Thunder pounds the daytime sky
The balmy temperature betrays
The winter rain drops
Cold and uncaring they fall
The horizon pulses with whitecaps
Puddles disappear into the sand
There is nothing to do on this island with a harbor
Except to wait and watch the unchanging scenery as it changes
The murderous thunder, the shards of rain, the ferocious gusts of wind
Form an invisible backdrop of silence
Drowning out all manmade sound and earthen light
There is no movement in this upheaval
Front and center, shout the trio
We are front and center and demand your attention
I sit by the harbor
There is nothing to do but watch and wait
Slowly, I feel my mind and heart settle, then synchronize
To the weather, in the harbor
On an island
Finally, Mother Nature whispers softly:
Welcome home, child. Welcome home.
Excellent poem. Very intellectual and mind stimulating. Loved your view point on life and never giving up. Just keep moving forward trying other tactics.
