Why Some Of Us Don’t Have One True Calling

What do you want to be when you grow up? Well, if you’re not sure you want to do just one thing for the rest of your life, you’re not alone. In this illuminating talk, writer and artist Emilie Wapnick describes the kind of people she calls “multipotentialites” — who have a range of interests and jobs over one lifetime. Are you one?

TED: Ideas Worth Spreadinghttps://www.ted.com/
TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment, and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages. Meanwhile, independently run TEDx events help share ideas in communities around the world.

  1. I just want to grow up.

But – in the absence of that – I think this kind of thinking is emerging as we recognize that MOST people don’t even follow one of their dreams … primarily for two reasons – the first is that most of us are taught to just ‘get on’ … the second – we live in a culture of focus focus – focus … it is wrong – but it is what happens.
