Many recruiters who wish to start their own practice (especially home office) is that they may have a non-compete with the firm they are leaving resulting in loss of clients and candidates. Even if that is not the case even if a client knows you they may not want to work with you on your own due to insurance issues. There is also very high start-up costs which may prove to be too prohibitive.
