Welcome to October and to weather we are assuming will be kinder, heat wise that is, than most of us experienced during what we called summer. This year, I experience both types of heat, that which is humid and that which is dry heat (the Arizona kind). It was the hottest I have ever lived through. How about you?
Whenever I think or talk about weather, there is a special train of thinking that comes to mind. As a high school student, I will never forget what we were told in a class one day. The teacher discussed something called “weather or climate” warfare.
Is there anyone else out there that ever heard those terms before? I can’t be the only person who has heard this, because I was not the only one in class that day.
The more I thought about the comment I remembered from high school, the more I heard weather reports that were sounding stranger and stranger. There were floods happening in locations that had never experienced flooding before. This strange weather was happening around the world, not just in the United States.
So, by now, you must be wondering where am I going with this weather thing, huh? Well, I am going back to the sweltering temperatures we have been experiencing here in Virginia and across the nation. And, I want to equate that to our lives.
When the temperature goes to a certain number, if we listen closely, we can hear the humming of air conditioners. Depending on how hot it is, the air conditioner will run longer if we want it to be real cold, not just cool.
