You‘re protesting against war. Good. You’re calling for justice. Wonderful. You’re demanding that the violence must come to an end? Bravo. But what is your plan? You can live in your Pollyanna world and imagine a Utopian alternative universe all you want, but the rest of the world has to go on dealing with reality. So if all you can do is wave your flag and point your finger, you aren’t helping to solve any problems. In fact, you might be making them worse.
What if it were your daughter being held hostage? What if it were your sister, your wife, or your mother? What if it were the mother of your child or your own baby? Would you still be looking for somewhere else to lay the blame?
Your high-minded ideals are admirable. But they aren’t going to get the captives home, and they aren’t going to end the violence. When you have an idea that might actually make things better, we’re ready to listen.
