All of it?
Your beliefs? Your family? Your job? Your $20 Starbucks gift card that’s been sitting in your wallet since 2011?
What if it were all a big, illusory house of mirrors constructed to make you believe it’s real, so you could live out a story as the character of you?
This notion has been hinted at through the years by the great sages.
Rumi, Alan Watts, Ram Dass, Dolores Cannon, Rodney Dangerfield.
The idea that we’re simply standing on a stage, playing our parts, putting on a show for all of creation to see.
A show that can teach, inspire, invigorate, expand, and, most of all…experience.
For only in the show can one truly feel the emotions and adventures of the characters therein.
And that’s there all the magic sits. Right here. Smack dab in the middle of the experience.
If you knew that, how would it change how you go about your day? How would it influence your interactions with others? How would it change your level of enthusiasm about the things you have to do, versus the things you get to do?”
If you woke up within the dream, realized it’s a dream, and were told you still had several more years, even decades to experience the dream, how would you approach the rest of it?
Would you play out the string?
Or make this dream something so profound, so explosively exciting, so unbelievably adventurous…that it would be worth remembering when you finally wake up?
You know me, Geoff… Be The Dream!
No one can know for sure if it’s all an illusion or reality,
at least not while we are on Earth. But what we can be certain of now is that through what we choose to believe, through the thoughts we feed ourselves every day, we also shape the experiences we live every day. Through the emotions we experience most frequently, we interpret facts in a certain way, which will then stimulate reactions and actions of a certain quality.
So, to tell the truth, it is not important to know if life is an illusion, a great game that we don’t even know if we voluntarily asked to play.
What is important is that we recognize the great power we have within us, the power to always choose which point of view to use to give meaning to what we are experiencing.
Cogito ergo sum: the fact of doubting, that is, is the condition that allows me to deduce being or truth! Then who knows!
