Web3, The Metaverse: Exploring A Fast, Sustainable, And Operationally Secure “QNTYM Railway” For The Masses

As a technologist and budding futurist, a major part of my professional career has been geared toward discovering and analyzing disruptive technologies. I have done so in government, industry, and academia for over two decades. On occasion, I come across technologies and products that have the potential to impact the digital ecosystem and give us a glimpse of the transformation of the future.

With the waning of Covid19, I was able to attend Blackhat and RSA this year. I saw some amazing and interesting technology but what a company I found, called QDEx Labs, is doing is globally changing the paradigm of the Internet via innovative technology pathways. QDEx Labs has a mission to set a new standard for Internet users by providing a quantum secure, self-defending resilient digital infrastructure that removes complexity for organizations and end users alike.

I spoke with the Founder and inventor, Walt Greene, Marco Essomba Advisor/CTO/CISO, and other members of the QDEx Labs team over a period of several weeks to learn more about their solutions and to see this technology for myself.  QDEx Labs recently demonstrated to me a collective capability of technological innovation that I believe will revolutionize Web3 and the Metaverse by making communications rapid, scalable, and secure.

This is no small order as it is estimated that by the end of the current decade, growth in services relating to metaverses and the sale of virtual goods will outpace everything else, taking an aggregate market share of 82% by 2030. Breaking some of that market down, according to Tech expert Vlad Kreinin, the metaverse will become not so much a way of life as a means of living: by 2030, the human avatar market will be approaching $530 billion, with NFTs and digital art worth over $200 billion and digital fashion $55 billion.  Of course, the gaming segment will also expand considerably – to almost $550 billion. In a recent McKinsey & Company study, Web3 beyond the Hype, the consulting firm McKinsey sees a decentralized Web3 as potentially upending the current power structure with a shift back to users.

They believe that Web3 remains an important internet trend to watch, and C-suite executives across a range of sectors may want to keep it on their radar, because of the potential for rapid disruption that it represents. A crucial part of QDEx Labs’ offerings is what they label “the QNTYM Railway.” It replaces the current internet digital infrastructure that is limited by latency, disparate systems, and significant energy consumption while offering a unique and functional digital backbone for Web3 and the Metaverse.

The underpinnings of QDEx Labs’ QNTYM Railway is, to my knowledge, the only known quantum secure, self-defending digital infrastructure allowing for the proliferation/enablement of Web3, the Metaverse, and Quantum Computing technologies with a goal of transforming total global digital infrastructure. The QNTYM Railway can rectify many of the shortcomings inherent to, and that currently exist in, the global internet network infrastructure (security, speed, sustainability, and simplicity).

QNTYM Railway is a ‘software level’ application that can be deployed on current hardware meaning there will be no need for changes in physical network infrastructure (hardware). The QNTYM Railway is an inherently quantum secure, self-defending, resilient, digital infrastructure capable of lightning-fast speed with a significant sustainability proposition.  From a command & control standpoint, the QNTYM Railway is also integrated with leading vendors where users can benefit from having threat intel, vulnerability, device & incident response management capabilities all automated and in one place, hence reducing complexity.

In terms of speed, the QNTYM Railway has demonstrated consistent throughput speeds of 350+ Mbit/s, (and above). The QNTYM Railway provides integration and interoperability that is in a class of its own allowing technology to reach new levels.  For the past year, QDEx Labs has been stress-assessing the QNTYM Railway across three interconnected cloud environments (AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure); they found that not only are they consistently experiencing the minimum requirement of 250 Mbit/s for 8k video streaming, but they are also, in fact, recording data streams reaching 3 to 4 times that amount with little to no processor load and added latencies in the microsecond (NOT millisecond) range.

The bottom line is that this architecture has now proven capable of hosting an ultra-realistic 3D metaverse. Results like these are something that Web3 and Metaverse projects currently lack and will require.

Regarding sustainability, the QNTYM Railway is showing 70-80% energy savings over current encryption standards.  On a mass scale and over time, QDEx Labs has projected that their technology has the potential to decrease energy consumption by up to 10,000-fold, or more, for any complete system that utilizes the QNTYM Railway.

Of course, security on every digital platform is a top priority. The security protocol at the core of the QNTYM Railway architecture is FIPS 140-3 validated. And the QNTYM Railway utilizes an automated orchestration and management platform that provides the integration required for universal scalability.

More specifically, the QNTYM Railway includes a FIPS-140-3 certified, core security protocol technology that enables the underlying security, speed, and sustainability that it delivers. QNTYM Railway security includes integration of quantum secure protocols and a tech stack that enables a single view of all applications with simplified reporting. What impressed me most is the versatility to privatize a digital network infrastructure at the enterprise level and that while this tech is self-defending through automated playbooks, enablement of scans, threat detection and response, resulting in faster MTTD/MTTR response rates – 24/7, it can also be monitored from a singular command & control UI.  Unlike the Internet, the QNTYM Railway was constructed with cybersecurity as a top consideration.

Michael Brown, Rear Admiral, USN (Retired), who has had a longstanding, collaborative relationship with NIST, has reviewed the QNTYM Railway’s technical approach and stated:

Where Web3 and the Metaverse are concerned, there are two critical aspects for true enablement:  QDEx Labs’ QNTYM Railway and the QDEx Network called TSSYRQ (teh∙sr∙akt). QDEx Labs is a major contributor to the community-governed QDEx Network, and with it comes TSSYRQ:  a novel, decentralized network architecture purpose-built to meet the demands and requirements that are inherent to a true, Web3 environment and subsequently, a hyper‐realistic, fully interactive Metaverse. Simply put, where QDEx Labs’ QNTYM Railway will serve as the medium for quantum secure, high‐speed data handling (i.e., Data at Rest and in Motion ‐ DaR/DiM), the QDEx Network’s TSSYRQ will function as the modal network for creators to build directly upon, including the ‘deep integration’ of technologies like NFTs. The QDEx network’s marketplace app will allow users to display, trade, store in a quantum secure manner, and even mint their own NFT collection, while being permitted to securely share with other community members. The core of the QDEx Marketplace App will allow those in the Metaverse to utilize NFT’s and other digital assets in ways never before possible, such as a plethora of uses within in game experiences, again, adding to the various fractional revenue streams for builders and devs. Having seen the actual QNTYM Railway in action, combined with the plans for these two pieces of the puzzle, I am more excited now about Web3 and the Metaverse coming to fruition than I have ever been.
