Health officials have been sounding the alarm as to the safety of e-cigarettes, but a new study revealed many Millennial and Gen-Z users still feel safe vaping. Harmony Healthcare IT surveyed 1,800 adults between the ages of 18 and 35 who regularly use vaping products. The study revealed the majority believe vaping is safer than smoking cigarettes or drinking, while fewer than half think its safer than smoking cannabis. When asked if they were concerned about recent vaping illnesses and death, only 59% said they were, while 36% responded that they would still continue to use vaping products even if someone they knew fell ill.
But the more than 2,700 confirmed e-cigarette-related lung injuries are having some impact on the vaping community. More than half said they are considering quitting vaping due to the wave of illnesses in 2019 and 2020, and a similar percentage answered that they planned to quit within the next six months.
