Ripples not splashes
small ways we touch lives
without hoopla or fanfare
simply reaching out
across the table or the fence
or the miles
to offer a smile
or some bread
or a quiet inkling
or an honest question
that might provide direction
or hope or a felt sense
of being heard and appreciated
It’s not about smothering someone
with a barrage of our great ideas
or grandly interfering on their behalf
but rather being there
quietly present and accountable
The allure of grandeur and flamboyance
pale next to the tiny shiny sparks
of love and caring and showing up
without being asked or tasked
In the end
perhaps bowls of soup
and a helping hand
and sharing moments of joy
are what will turn the tide
toward a world that works
for all
from the heart, mind, and pen of Minx
Thank you Eva for reaching out and sharing your thoughts. It is the small gestures of kindness and tenderness that are making all the difference.
This is great! It’s the little things that are most rewarding. Just being there for each other. And not waiting to be asked to help. But lend a helping hand always. I quite enjoyed this poem! We could all use this in the world today! Being there for each other is the answer in life at least kne of them! Great poem.
