#2: Vaping is just as addictive as smoking
Both e-cigarettes and regular cigarettes contain nicotine, which can be as addictive as heroin and cocaine, research suggests. What’s worse is that many e-cigarette users get even more nicotine than they would from a traditional tobacco product. That’s because you can buy extra-strength cartridges that have a higher nicotine concentration, or you can increase the voltage of the e-cigarette to get a bigger hit of the substance.
#3: Vaping won’t necessarily help you quit smoking
Although they’ve been marketed as an aid to help you quit smoking, e-cigarettes have not been approved as smoking cessation devices by the Food and Drug Administration. This is because most people who have intended to kick the nicotine habit using e-cigarettes ended up smoking both traditional and e-cigarettes.
While it’s true that vaping is certainly less harmful than traditional tobacco filled cigarettes, it isn’t the best alternative if you’re trying to quit. You’ll still feel the nicotine addiction and it’ll just be a switch from one addiction to another. However, if you’re confident that you can control your vaping habits and control the amount of nicotine you’re inhaling everyday, you might be successful. Just don’t assume that you’re doing your lungs a favor because you’re still absorbing harmful chemicals, some of which aren’t even approved to be inhaled. Keep the risks in mind and you’ll be fine!
