Love does not consist in gazing at each other, but in looking outward together in the same direction.
—Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
I love you…I love you for more reasons than you may ever fully comprehend.
I love you for being the one. The one who holds a space with her that is safe.
The one that nurtures her creativity and curiosity.
The one that makes her laugh…at you, the world, and herself.
The one who reminds her of her beauty and grace from the inside out.
And more than anything, I want you to know how much I love seeing her when she is with you.
I want you to know the day that she arrived, I held her with a tenderness I had never known was possible. There was a mother/daughter invisible thread that was connected to her every breath. I could feel her tiny heartbeat and I knew my life would live on forever in her. She is her own woman – she is not me and she is a part of me.
In the early years, it was my role to protect her from harm, give her room to grow, and hold all of the spaces in-between as she navigated her way to the sweet place of confidence and courage. My role has not diminished only shifted and expanded in different ways. I will always be here for her to share experiences, give advice or just listen; Mother/Daughter and Woman to Woman as only women can do.
This is your time now…and as you create this new chapter as husband and wife, I want you to know how happy my heart is that you found each other in this lifetime.
I trust you without pause, I appreciate you as a man, her friend, soul mate, and husband. I value your tenacity, creativity, passion, work ethic, and mostly your tender heart.
What I know for sure on this your first wedding anniversary: Individually, you are both amazing humans. Together, you are powerful beyond measure.
May this anniversary be the best one ever – till next year.
