It was a salt wind that burned,
And the sounds of the sea,
That took me always here.
The taste of freedom on the waves that filled my thoughts and calmed my fears.
Soaring gulls who flew above,
And waters that rushed to shore.
And you who walked with me each step,
Upon those sands I see no more.
You held my heart within your hands,
Which made me feel complete,
As now I rest so far from there and in my thoughts do often weep,
Of times now past when we were young,
And ran so far along the beach.
Those moments lost in sun and sands,
Waters cool upon the north winds,
Years now past where we did spend,
Those days on golden shores.
