Far too many well-intentioned folks reach the stage in their career where they finally have the opportunity in the form of time, talent and treasure to (truly) make a difference. Yet they soldier on, not because of lack of desire, but simply a lack where and how to convert their desire into action. And so many nonprofits soldier on, also trying to make a difference, while up against a neverending lack of time, talent and treasure. While anyone can write a check (donate treasure), it takes a genuine commitment of time and talent to walk the “giving back” talk.
We rise by lifting others.

As Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of this global media platform & Chief Encouragement Officer of our affiliated pro bono social impact enterprise; GoodWorks 360°, I encounter “good” (e.g. passionate, diligent, bottom-line driven, etc.) nonprofits daily who are well-positioned to accelerate their journey from good to great, if only complimented by more board-level talent. The kind of “been there, done that” talent from across the business spectrum that can sit around a Board table every so often to help steer the ship. And to be sure, the majority of nonprofit board members don’t have nonprofit experience, but rather a basketful of priceless, practical “wisdom of experience.” The end result is a complementary merging of bottom-up and top-down talent, poised to sustain a nonprofit well into the future.
The time is now for you to follow me and so many other professionals who are now “walking the talk,” by taking that first step forward with a mission-critical investment – not of treasure – but rather of time and talent by prospectively joining a talented Board of Trustees helping to steer the ship at Navicore Solutions who’s impressive Mission is presented below. Or if it’s not your time – perhaps you know someone who’s time has come?
Navicore Solutions strengthens the well-being of individuals and families through education, guidance, advocacy, and support. Founded in 1991, Navicore has grown to become one of the largest nonprofit financial education providers in the US. Navicore Solutions provides compassionate financial counseling to consumers nationwide in the areas of personal finance, consumer credit, student loans, foreclosure prevention and housing, and bankruptcy counseling and education. A national 501(c)(3) organization, Navicore Solutions’ certified counselors assist more than 100,000 consumers each year through 11 offices in 11 states. Our agency is an advocate of financial education for the community at large and our focus is to provide these services in order to meet the needs of consumers. Our goal is to help the community and our clients achieve and maintain financial stability.
I’ve personally served as a volunteer Member of the Board for 5+ years and simply can’t speak highly enough about the management team and their remarkable commitment & passion for their Mission. Learn more about Navicore Solutions.
Unlike so many other nonprofit Boards, our Board Members are not up against endless fundraisers, donor gatherings, annual breakfasts, etc., as Navicore’s funding is via Federal Grants, Foundations , Consumer fees, etc. – a reflection of the core mission. Which means our Board Members serve as ambassadors and strategic advisors for the good of the Mission.
And please don’t let your location or Navicore’s New Jersey location become a stumbling block (I’m based in Tampa, Florida), as our Board meets just four times per year, with three of the meetings conducted by teleconference and the fourth an invitation to join the Management Team at the Home Office for a singular in-person strategy-laced Session (at Company expense.)
I invite you to explore this meaningful opportunity further by reaching out to me by email to arrange an introductory chat. Or if you know someone who’s ready to convert their passion into action, send them my way! Because isn’t’ it about time to “rise by lifting others?”
It’s a much-needed service, helping so many navigate their way through the financial jungle, not knowing whom to trust with their money, Dennis! Great to know it’s there and that you’ve been a part of it for so long — that fact alone speaks volumes about its mission and worthiness! And yours, of course!
Thank you, Susan – as with @BC360°, out work with nonprofits is a labor of love 🙂
Thank you for sharing this organization, Dennis. I’ll pass this along to others in my network who may be interested in incorporating board work into their portfolio.
Wonderful and needed service. As our financial world gets more complicated and we are more responsible for planning our financial future we need guidance. Thanks for sharing information on this non-profit with me. BTW, I hope our school systems start to teach financial management too. It is a critical need.
