A Conscious Community?
Precisely our quest. And let’s be clear right upfront. NO – it’s not another social media platform to join. NO – it’s not a sales pitch or promo hidden behind fancy words. Quite simply, it’s a journey to rediscover the infinite power of good-faith commitment and good old-fashioned adult conversations – wrapped around the notion of real engagement and real relationship-building. Period.
It’s time we reassert the human agenda. And we must do so together—not as the individual players we have been led to imagine ourselves to be, but as the team we actually are.
–Douglas Rushkoff, Team Human
Our Principles
We envision a thriving social media universe in which people are bound together by choice, founded upon a universal good-faith commitment to listen, understand, respect, empathize with, and support one another. An authentic, fresh, uplifting exercise in relational diplomacy – recognizing that the relationship between people of diverse backgrounds and expertise is the foundational building block for uniting the world.
I define connection as the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued; when they can give and receive without judgment; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship…
–Dr. Brené Brown
Simple as that. But not so simple in today’s social media world in which the vast majority of connections are sought to posture for a sales pitch/profit opportunity. Our collective challenge has been to recognize the difference while seeking out and embracing the extraordinary power of real connection.
Let’s Just Do It
Let’s start right now. Let’s pivot to something special. Let’s intentionally break the downward spiral of authentic social media engagement, replacing “likes” with real conversation, real connection, real relationships. Let’s come together to build a conscious community. Let’s reimagine the power of possibility by embracing the Principles and potential of 360° Nation.
What About 360° Nation?
Call it a movement. Call it a vision. Call it our recipe for enhanced “social media mojo.” Call it the way social media engagement used to be. Or call it an opportunity to simply commit by word and deed to something special. An opportunity to show what it means to transition from “likes” to real conversation. A unilateral commitment with no strings attached. No costs. No catches. No surprises. Pure relationship-building at its very best.
What About Real Engagement?
Who’s Eligible?
Anyone willing to actively participate in our collaborative journey to bring “social” back to social media, by showing up, stepping up, and speaking up —by word and deed (see the next paragraph for more on that). In other words, anyone who appreciates and embraces the power of engagement reimagined.
Just 2 steps to join our quest to bring “social” back to social media⤵︎
- Carefully review OUR Pledge and YOUR Pledge below. Step back and consider your willingness to make an unwavering good-faith commitment to actively and intentionally join our movement, embracing all of the principles discussed herein. If you’re not up for it, simply step away. But if you’re truly ready to bring “social” back to social media, please step forward now to join our movement by coming together with a virtual good-faith handshake.
- To confirm the sincerity of your Pledge, please begin connecting with your fellow Ambassadors via our exclusive (new) 360° Nation LinkedIn Group. (Do mention 360° Nation within your connection Invitation.) And then let the sharing, engagement, and relationship-building begin.
❖ OUR Good-Faith Pledge ❖
We promise to use the power of our “virtual pulpit” to bring together, champion, nurture, and grow this emerging universe, however, wherever, and whenever possible. We promise to do our very best to foster discussion inspired by way of content shared, and intentional engagement & connection, all founded upon a welcoming, supportive environment.
❖ YOUR Good-Faith Pledge ❖
You promise to embrace our vision and are ready, able, and willing to connect with each of your fellow Ambassadors not for sales pitch or promotional objectives but for authentic engagement & relationship-building. You promise to intentionally nurture real relationships, borne of authenticity, humanity, mutual respect, empathy, support, sharing, reciprocity, and constructive collaboration at every opportunity, moving beyond “likes” to real conversations, diving deeper to reflect, explore, question and share. You will take ownership of growing and making our growing “conscious community” the best it can be, bringing friends and colleagues into our collaborative movement, while demonstrating the power of humanity rediscovered.
I like the through thread of bringing the social back into social media. It’s so refreshing and inspiring!
Thank you, Cordelia – we’re inspired to rediscover humanity at it’s very best however, wherever and whenever we can and am glad you are along for the journey!
I do too, Cordelia!
This is exactly what I was talking about on LI recently. The lack of real engagement. I’d love to be a part of this group.
You ARE part of this group, Laurie! And we’re delighted by that!
Belonging is defined as the feeling of being part of a community. It is the sense of inclusion and the perception of one’s personal value in this context. We feel we belong when we perceive that we are accepted as members, when our differences are recognized and tolerated, when we feel connected with others. Belonging is considered a fundamental human need: if we refer in fact to the pyramid of needs, this comes immediately after physiological needs and the need for security. It is therefore crucial for the well-being of the individual.
The sense of belonging is often connected to the feeling of comfort and pleasure of not being alone and to the relief in knowing that other people also experience situations similar to ours. Two fundamental aspects related to belonging are also involvement and aggregation. If we do not actively participate and interact with the context, it is difficult for us to experience the sense of belonging. If we don’t make connections with others, it is very likely that we will not feel part of a group. In this sense, active participation is a fundamental ingredient if you want to increase the experience of belonging.
In general, the development of the sense of belonging takes place with identification: we accept and share the values and culture of the group in which we live and this leads us to feel a similarity and a sense of “we”.
Among the aspects that characterize the sense of belonging to a community, the one most relevant to me is the sense of emotional security, which follows from having significant ties with people. This is an interesting aspect (emerged from some research): in essence, the more people feel they belong to a social group, the more they have the feeling that life is meaningful. And this can have an important practical aspect: to increase the sense of belonging, it could be useful to increase the significant activities, those that are important for the person, that they like, that give satisfaction, that give sense of accomplishment.
The above to conclude that we cannot fail to participate in a community that we trust and that allows us to do something significant.
Thanks as always for sharing your wisdom, Aldo. You’ve certainly “hit the nail on the head” as they say when you said: “If we do not actively participate and interact with the context, it is difficult for us to experience the sense of belonging. If we don’t make connections with others, it is very likely that we will not feel part of a group. In this sense, active participation is a fundamental ingredient if you want to increase the experience of belonging.”
Thank You!
Thank you, Dennis, for the invite and I am excited to be part of an authentic community having honest discussions in an atmosphere of respect and love. I look forward to our journey together.
We need to renew in our hearts, and in our souls the perennial sense of belonging, compassion, and kindness, Helen – all of which serves as the foundation for 360° Nation … and we’re so very pleased that you’ve chosen to share your inspiring writing AND your very thoughtful engagement with our expanding “conscious community” …
A wonderful initiative that keeps BIZ360 in the forefront of bringing people together for a greater good! Empowering, uplifting and inspiring! Great video that captures the heart of what you have created with 360° Nation. Honored to be a part of such an amazing community of like minded professionals who continuously reach out to each other through sharing, collaborating and encouraging. Cheers to continued success!
What a thoughtful response here, Eileen. Our “movement” to bring social back to social media is inspired by amazing “people-centered” folks like you who always show up, step up, and speak up. We’re so pleased that you’ve joined our journey to rediscover humanity…
Thank you all for your invaluable support and engagement here. Please join our NEW LinkedIn Group and Connect with your fellow Ambassadors here: https://www.linkedin.com/groups/13835022/
I agree with your purpose and intentions in forming this group, Dennis. As technology has advanced, real and engaging communication has actually declined overall. The technology of social media is not the same as real communication. Your group is very much needed, and I pledge to be a part of it.
We appreciate your perspectives and your pledge – please join us via our new LinkedIn Group here: https://www.linkedin.com/groups/13835022/
Dennis, this sounds like a wonderful endeavor.
Thanks, Joel – we hope you’ll join our journey!
You are welcome, Dennis. If in between working almost all night I will try. I have been overwhelmed by the expressions of love and caring from so many incredible/amazing people from the group imploring me not to leave and to continue writing. This is not something I could never have imagined happening when I first joined. While I can not guarantee I will try to write every so often (or even if I can still write from an ability standpoint) I did see your post about this new endeavor but in the middle of resume searching, negotiating with job boards and seeking out new clients I probably skimmed through it. If it is not too much trouble please send me an e-mail Saturday night with the details that I did not see. I am sorry for creating extra work for you. Thank you, Dennis, for this incredible experience.
Glad to hear that you, along with so many other folks are experiencing the listening, caring, empathizing and support of our expanding 360° Nation conscious community, Joel. Ps. Nothing more to send you, as everything we have to say is now presented within our above Article. When the dust settles on your end, please take a moment to stroll through it, as it defines what we’re up to and why. We’ve also launched an affiliated LinkedIn Group, as mentioned within the Article (you’ve been invited to join).
Dennis, I had a moment to pour through your initiative for the 360 along with your mission statement. I am not sure if I would fit your mold or what I could contribute that would add value. So many members of the group in their infinate kindness have been lovingly trying to get me to keep writing. The only answer I can give is I don’t know. My latest article wrote itself so all I had to do was type whatever was in my mind. I appreciate the invitation and am humbled by it but right now I just don’t know. I wish I had something more encouraging to say but right now I am focusing the bulk of my day (and late nights) into building and growing Independent Executive Recruiting By Joel. I understand my membership status may change in addition to being able to submit articles for publication. Thank you, Dennis for being a difference maker in my life
Rest assured that your seat on our Columnist & Featured Contributors Panel is a lifetime one, Joel. It matters not to us whether you contribute once a week or once a year, as what matters most is your presence. So, just keep doin’ what your doin’ my friend…
Thank you so much, Dennis. This matters so much to me. If you should see Danny or Mike please tell them I said hello. The same for Lynn. Although we are of different faiths and many of our beliefs and practices are different they are religious people which happen to be my favorite kind of people.
Will read again and comment more rigorously with time but – right now …
1) Needless to say Rushkoff and in particular Team Human is essential reading for any follower of People First … the final chapter (100) of which I quote in its entirety ….
“Find the others.”
2)
Humanity is what connects all humans and separates us from all else.
HumanIT – THE OS for People.
Thanks for weighing in here, John – please join our quest to “find the others” as rediscover Humanity at it’s very best.
Dennis, I love everything about this article and a new adventure! The video is so uplifting and inspiring – its message clear and from the heart. A testament to BC360 and the opportunity, insight, growth, and so much more that it offers to so many. Like Kimberly, I, too, found myself tearing up as I watched the video. The resounding thought that keeps going through my head is that this feels right. This community, right here, fits. But what’s even better are the open arms, the open minds, and the open hearts. And that is a fabulous feeling.
I am so thankful to be a part of this community. Let’s do this!
Hi Laura – let me start by saying “WOW” … such encouraging words for our entire team to hear. We’ve been at the social media “game” a long time now and have witnessed such a collapse of what is best defined as good old-fashioned adult conversation, underpinned by “humanity” at its best. And that is what we are striving for here. We’d like to create a space for belonging, a place to celebrate life and where we all connect at a more thoughtful, deeper level setting the stage for a brighter future as new (real) relationships emerge. And please know that we are so thankful that you’ll be walking alongside us as this journey prevails…
Wow! What can I say that the other fine people here haven’t already said, but “count me in!”
Thank you Sherry – our quest for a return to “authentic” engagement, inspired by inspired storytelling will be a great one because of folks like you…
I’m incredibly honored to be part of this community, to reach out to others, and to make certain others do not ever feel “all alone.” (unless they are fully enjoying all their moments of delicious introspection and solitude with nature or their beautiful inner world:) ) Thank you so much, Dennis for this inspiring vision and invitation! I’m all in!! Yes!!
Laura – you have provided us with an unending stream of inspiration which fuels the fire of our “conscious community”… Thank you for making such a meaningful difference!
Good video! Good initiative!
Thank you, Aruna!
Great initiative and video! Inspiring quotes and featured guests. Thank you for always striving to make humanity happen on social media.
Thank you, Maria – the spirit of 360° Nation resides within you…
What a privilege it is to be a part of this remarkable community of people. I found myself tearing up, Dennis and Melissa, as I watched the video and thought about how much bigger and richer this group of people makes my life. Thank you, Dennis, for creating a platform where so many unique voices can be heard, that allows us all to thrive together, and for inviting me to be a part. I’m grateful
Our platform is merely the orchestra pit, Kimberly wherein we are blessed with the opportunity to “share such inspiring music” as authored by you and the rest of our amazing contributors. Our heartfelt thanks for your everlasting support and genuine engagement – it matters!
I’m more than inspired here Dennis!
Thé vidéo alone is so moving! Motivating ! Thank you for this article and new adventure that is so necessary in any social capacity. in today’s online presence where half of the worlds population has access to the Internet, hopefully will spill over to those who are not. A true visionary understands that at the heart of any future prospect…it’s all about the people in society. We are social beings. The greatest factor in any advanced sustainability.
My love of humanity is my mission! Our birthright of dignity is of utmost importance to me! I’m all about feeding the value in all people! I have found that we need to honour this value in self first…which I have now accomplished and am happy to dedicate to honouring this value in everyone!
Without the sense of value there is a loss of dignity. This is the start. Honouring our birthright is mandatory in humanity. It is our number 1 job to help one another!
Consider me apart of this. Thank you so much, this is a great initiative!
Paula
I am completely and utterly inspired!! Thank you for this article, the video, the commitment to engagement, the passionate invitation to connect from our hearts and minds to one another here on social media-from respect, honesty, trust, non-judgment, thoughtful, heartfelt sharing, listening, and commenting. I am in 100 percent. Thank you, Dennis!! Thank you, Melissa!
What a thoughtful message, Laura – perhaps we can all simply embrace the words of your latest article, and “allow love to love” via the spirit of 360° Nation. https://www.bizcatalyst360.com/allow-love-to-love/
