Life!
Liberty!
Pursuit of happiness!
Basic rights I think we all seek, don’t we?
But if we actually have them … do we appreciate them?
My wonderful adoptive parents were a sharp study in contrast, something I saw on a regular basis.
I remember my poor mother never seeming to be quite happy in the life she and my dad lived, even though to an outsider it had to look like the stuff of dreams!
➡ Nice house.
➡ Nice furnishings.
➡ More than enough food and such.
➡ Lots of parties, friends, relatives, holiday celebrations.
She even had her own car (this was in the 1950s!).
Always enough of everything that mattered, but … she always seemed to be seeking more. Never seemed truly happy.
Somehow I escaped feeling that way, taking after my dad, who had the sunniest disposition and outlook on life that anyone could imagine!
He found love and laughter everywhere, and I’m thinking of him due to what I saw last night at my kitchen sink …
Do you see what I did? Just for yuks? Laughter? Warmth?
? Does this happen to you as well?
? Do you see fun stuff on a regular basis?
? Do you look for it everywhere as I always do?
Life is short and often only what we make of it.
Let’s all take our blinders off and enjoy what there is to see, touch, feel, and hear – let’s live our life to its fullest!
As always, I welcome your thoughts.
Content and gratitude to what we have and what we see or sense can bring us genuine joy. I see joy looking out of your words Susan. I am glad you took the path that your father did.
