I could have easily chosen to avoid paying attention to cruelty, but I wouldn’t be true to myself. I choose to see the blessing and lessons in my pain, no matter how unbearable it may feel. I have come to appreciate my deep pain for developing my genuine compassion as well as my perseverance and doing what is right at all costs.
Perhaps that is the key to life: not to accept what is not acceptable, not to step away from what might trigger us, embrace our pain, and see it as a gift in disguise.
Pain to me is the price of admission of loving freely and unconditionally, and I choose to pay the price till the very last breath!
- I choose to wake up every day with a peaceful heart knowing that I’ve been doing my very best.
- I choose to feel pure joy even amid the most heart-wrenching circumstances knowing that I’m doing what is in my power to restore some justice and grant second chances.
- I choose to live virtuously so that when death comes, I can welcome it with open arms and a heart filled with inner peace instead of fear!
Two years ago, I embarked on a remarkable journey of compassion – a stray animal volunteering adventure in Tunisia. It’s been an incredible rollercoaster, filled with heartwarming moments and heartbreaking challenges, especially during those initial months.
In some parts of the world, like Turkey, stray animal communities receive love, care, and protection from ordinary people and dedicated organizations despite their striking numbers. Appealingly, the law protects strays as well. Their welfare is a priority.
In Tunisia, though, the story is starkly different. Only the dramatic numbers are similar, unfortunately. Stray animals struggle to survive, face daily cruelty- and are tragically targeted by municipalities.
I’ve witnessed heart-wrenching scenes – tiny puppies desperately trying to nurse from their mother’s lifeless body, dogs enduring unimaginable suffering for hours, and others left paralyzed with no hope of surgery without risking their lives.
In my former neighborhood, individuals would steal or vandalize the supplies I left out for these furry friends – kibbles, cushions, water containers, and more – forcing me to replace them multiple times.
Even more distressing, some heartless people frequently abandon kittens and adult cats, leaving them to fend for themselves. The latest victims were four precious angels just three weeks old. I rushed them to a vet clinic, where they spent a month and a half. Sadly, only two of them survived and found loving homes.
While my passion drives me, I’ve had limited financial support, mainly from caring friends, while facing monthly expenses that quickly add up. These costs include 100kg of kibbles, 50 servings of wet food, treats, daily cooked meals for the dogs, vet check-ups, stays at animal clinics or hotels, emergency surgeries, neutering, and vaccinations – all essential to give these innocent souls a chance at finding loving homes or at least a shelter where they can be safe.
Recently, I relocated to Canada, but I’m still responsible for the ongoing needs and clearing the substantial debts accumulated during this journey. Without a job yet, the situation is quite challenging. So, I turn to you, dear compassionate community, for help. Your support, no matter how small, can make an enormous difference. Even a $10 donation can change a life and brighten the future for these innocent beings having a miserable existence.
If you can’t contribute financially, please consider sharing our fundraiser far and wide. Your sharing can help us reach more caring souls who can lend their support. Together, we can make a world of difference for these animals.
THANK YOU for being a part of this incredible journey with us!
