I read an article recently that said most people live to be 80 years old. That means they’ll have 4000 weeks in their lives. People who live to be 100 have 5200 weeks. That was an amazing figure to me. 4000 weeks doesn’t sound like a lot of time, does it?
My neighbor is 85 or so and has end-stage cancer. She’s decided not to treat it. She’s lived a full life, has all kinds of physical ailments and feels complete with life. What a gift.
Focus on doing what is meaningful and important to you, and let go of the rest. We can’t control all the outcomes – just how we decide to use our precious time – our 4000 – 5000 weeks.
How are you spending your week? Are you aligning your time with what you value and love?
Be mindful, awake, and aware. Time. Is. Precious.
Jackie, How true your words. Clearly we’re all well aware of the value of time… yet, the reality of such alludes us. Or perhaps better said, it’s our ability/desire to set meaningful boundaries. For most, the trap is that life is a race toward a fabricated idea of a calm retirement, one that no longer exists. Thank you for your essay that helps us to pause and reflect. Journey Well, Mariah
Hello Carolyn,
Your reply brings me right into this present moment and centers me in enjoying connecting with you virtually, savoring a moment of being acknowledged, relaxing into the connection around shared values with you. It’s a lovely feeling. Your willingness to reach out and reply opened the door for me to have that experience. Thank you.
Peace,
Jackie
Thank you so much for this powerful reminder Jackie!
Right here says it all: “Be mindful, awake, and aware. Time. Is. Precious”.
We know this …. but do we really live this? In the chaos of everyday living, we all need this daily reminder. No matter our age.
