There’s something very democratic about social media in that everyone, no matter how whacked out they are, gets to expose their point of view to the world at large.
I find a certain amount of comfort in that because the more whacked out opinions you see on social media the more you learn to appreciate the people who are actually making sense.
Reading stuff that’s nothing but recycled conspiracy bullsh#t is good for you. Because it’s good to know just how many lunatics are out there and just how out to lunch they really are.
And yeah, a few of you will read that stuff and actually think it’s for real. But all that’s doing is telling you that you are weak-minded and have lost, or maybe never really had, the ability to really discern truth from crap. In which case, of course, even the people making sense won’t be able to penetrate your brain, on account of it being so small with a thick wall of prejudice protecting it from anything that doesn’t fit with the worldview that you have been spoon-fed by all the haters.
So keep scrolling and taking it all in. The insanity and the enlightenment. And at the end of the day, ask yourself what side of that spectrum you are on.
