That First Step Into the Unknown

In December 2010, I was diagnosed with breast cancer and shared this message with friends and family:

Ironically, even though the ‘unknown’ factor is a bit scary, there’s also a deep sense of peace surrounding all of this.  I know that a large part of my purpose for being on the planet is to create and share my music with people going through the cancer journey and I also know in my heart that part of me needs to personally experience this journey in order to be able to say “been there, done that.”  There is so much beauty surrounding this process already and I’m very clear that one of my main lessons during all of this is to learn how to receive love for myself.  So…from my perspective, this is a sacred journey back to myself so that I can more fully share my love with the world.

In December 2012, I was diagnosed a second time and continued my journey of love. Throughout my experiences, I kept a very detailed journal (which is available on my website) of how old beliefs were transforming as deep self-compassion was growing from within. Life Lessons emerged from these moments of self-discovery and eventually found their way into my book, “Loving Life…All of It – A Walk with Cancer, Compassion, and Consciousness.”

Today, I share these insights in a number of ways, including online programs. This particular video is a glimpse into “A Walk with Cancer, Healing Music, and Conscious Self-Care” ~ an online program that expands perceptions of self-care and offers healing music and life lessons for those living with and beyond cancer. This clip is from a class hosted by Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan’s Cancer Care Program.

I love sharing this story because it helps me remember what I see is often an illusion.

Just because my eyes can’t see something doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. I am supported; you are supported; we are all supported in ways we just don’t know.

With Loving Gratitude,

Amy

  1. You are such a beautiful person in and out! Stunning radiance you have and such amazing work you do! Some say cancer is a disease that threatens you with the death, more and more people acknowledge its actually showing you where to become alive and live the life you were always designed to live. I believe we become ill because of the piles of lies we hear around us and have inside our minds since childhood. Piling up until the body screams STOP! LISTEN! Its often when we find our ways back to our true self. I so hope one day schools start to teach children to connect to what they really are. To teach how it is actually True Self/ The Soul however you wish to name it, who protects us and guides us trough life. That knows what road to take. What life to live that is good for us. Then maybe cancer wouldn’t be necessary anymore. People like you who came through this on the other side have my highest respect. Keep on shining beautiful you with your incredible beautiful music! Soon, we’ll join on stage!
