(1)
It came,
Out of a corner
Wet.
It came,
Unexpectedly
And yet,
I let it roll
Slowly,
Out of the corner,
Of
My
Eye.
And across the bridge
Of
My
Nose.
Down my right cheek,
To drop
Upon
The pillow
In its case.
I felt it go.
It was cold.
You know.
I let it go,
And it was,
Very,
Very
Slow.
(2)
And as it rolled
From the corner of
My
Eye,
I realized,
I was going
To
Silently
Cry.
Tear for my Momma B
In a rehab facility.
Tear for more,
Oh, what’s in store?
Tear for you,
Tear for me,
Here for you,
Here for me.
The naysayers who
Told me to stop,
And
The ones who told me
Go find a lane,
And
Those who said
I’m too much,
And
Those who said
You’re out of touch.
(3)
Well, that tear
Rolled
And yes,
it felt
Cold.
Yet,
It warmed my heart
To get out of bed
With a place to start.
So, that’s what I did,
And I’ll do it again,
For it is only a matter of time now
And who knows when?
When that tear will embolden me,
For myself, you and others,
Who may not or may
See if we have our druthers.
Hope, a person,
Hope, a feeling,
Hope as a future note
Worthy of seeing and hearing.
(4)
It’s that tear, that hope,
That I will carry today,
And it may come calling to you, someday.
You, what will you do with your
Tear
And
Your hope?
May you smile,
May your cry,
May you walk a mile,
May you slowly
Dry your eye.
May you hug,
May I cheer,
May I for each of you
Far and near?
For hope is a tear
That is not to fear.
