Plunge into the icy blue.
Stretch whole body long
Feet flutter
Underwater.
Arms create the
S cross top,
Pulling
Hands like paddles.
Rhythmic breaths
Blowing bubbles
That tickle the belly.
A Black Line
Guiding
Rolling head up through
Skimming, rolling waves.
Bright yellow, blue lane
Dividers containing
Your race,
Your progress,
Boundaries allowing
Freedom to move
At your pace.
Not knowing
Or seeing what anyone
Else is doing or being.
Who are you in your
Lane as the world
Changes,
Lives end,
Lungs collapse?
Can you keep moving in
A pool of
Despair without
Being swallowed
Whole?
Accept the
Depth of darkness.
Breech the surface
Of abandonment.
Inhale
fresh perspectives.
Exhale
Hostage held truths.
The wall of awe
Awaits
At a distance.
Swim like
Lives
Depend on
The wake
that love
Passion
Create.
Swim like
Lives
Depend on
The wake
that love…
The vision of a wake that carries love reminds of the pebble’s ripple. It can go on and on, and touches every shore. Beautiful, Laura.
Thank you so much, Sarah!
Just gorgeous Laura! Your lyrical stories reveal your poetic talent as you have displayed repeatedly. You, the swimmer, comes through loud and clear as you dazzle us with your words. Thank you my friend as always. Please continue to tag me.💖
Thank you so much for all your kind and enthusiastic words. I’m very grateful, Darlene. I love to swim, especially when I discovered I no longer had to swim to prove something or earn a trophy. When we realize there are activities that just feel like JOY when we do them, that’s such a liberation. I will continue to tag you, my friend! I appreciate you. 🙂
The wake

Passion
Create. Laura I love it when you write poetry. It is an art I never mastered. You have to know by now that I am not one to be in any certain lane. I will be sharing this my friend.
Thank you so much, Larry. I rarely actually “swim” in one lane either as I have a cornucopia of interests and passions from spirit animals, to feng shui, to emotional health, healing trauma, and so much more. I appreciate your kind words and that you’re choosing to share it with your friends and colleagues. Thank you.
Is it summer yet? I can’t wait to take a dip in my aunt’s pool!!! Are you a swimmer Laura?
Yes! I learned to swim at a very young age. I then participated beginning at age 6 on the summer swim team of our community. I swam on the men’s swim team in high school because our town hadn’t quite gotten it together for girl’s high school athletics (even though Title 9 was enacted). I swam competitively in college for one year. After that I finally found the freedom of swimming for the joy of being in the water, the moving meditation this became. I did compete in several triathlons as an adult-not focused on winning but on participating for the fun of it-the exhilaration. Thank you for asking, JoAnna!! I love being in the water!! I hope you get to be in your aunt’s pool this summer!!
