Last week, my wonderful friend, Petra Kersten Lober, published this poem on LinkedIn. The entire poem is beautiful. But this line, in particular, blew me away: “In the morning, the past disappears.”
It touched me so that it inspired this video:
‘Nuff said.
DON'T WAIT! ONLY 2 OF 50 SEATS LEFT! It's not a virtual event. It's not a conference. It's not a seminar, a meeting, or a symposium. It's not about attracting a big crowd. It's not about making a profit, but rather about making a real difference. LEARN MORE HERE
Great job Mark. Love the line “Control is expectation pitted vainly against time.” I learned the more I try to control the less control I have. My control in a moment will be gone because time does not stand still.
Thank you, Frank. I appreciate your taking the time to watch and comment. I think often of the lyrics from the Don Henley song, “The Heart of the Matter”:
The more I know, the less I understand
All the things I thought I’d figured out
I have to learn again.
At least in my experience, the one reliable safeguard against the illusions (delusions?) of control and certainty is constant learning. If I’m not learning and creating — the two are very much related for me — I’m uneasy. I’d rather not be. 😉
Wow! Mark. Great poem and I love how you bring some more life to it with your video. Very entertaining. Great work to both you and Petra! To inspire this …Thank you so much!
Thank you, Paula. I’m so happy you enjoyed it. I don’t know if you’re connected with Petra. She’s quite amazing in so many ways.
I’m grateful to you for commenting.
Oh yes I am connected… I had to check for I did not see this poem of hers. Very beautiful. Thank you so much. It’s great to see inspiration ripple!
Amen to that, Paula
