Last summer I met her
I was mesmerized each day
As I saw her
Standing strong
No matter what life threw her way
I tried to capture her essence
As I photographed
From every angle
At all times of day and weather
Seeing life take rest
On her structure
While other matters beat away
On her foundation
Her scars were less apparent
As the sunset
She glowed
With colors of the night
Yet with each scar
I saw resilience
In daylight, it was most apparent
The scars part of her strength
In honor of the journey past
Ready to take on
All that was yet to come
She still stands strong
I love this Susan, very powerful indeed. …In daylight it was most apparent the scars part of her strength. Absolutely, they are.
Thank you Char – oh yes – you know well what this poem is about. I am so glad to have you as part of my community of strong, incredible women. Just imagine what we can do together, so inspiring.
Susan,
Beautifully written and poignant. I particularly like “Seeing life take rest/ On her structure/ While other matters beat away/ On her foundation”
I love the language you use here, and the line breaks are perfect. ❤️
Thank you Antonia for reading my poem, and pointing out this particular section. This is life, isn’t it?! Each instance an opportunity to build upon from where we were before. ❤️
