Be bold in that which you speak. Be true to heart and stand for passions held within. Know oneself and hold to knowledge gained in wisdom if that which is challenged breaks from the experiences and teachings of your Creator.

Be not afraid to stand tall in the face of adversity even if it means your destruction because if you do then the self-annihilation will be far greater than that which another can cast upon your spirit.

Walk in determination knowing that each step you take is yours and yours alone, that no man is beholden to another’s decisions and that if you choose another’s path you are never a man in yourself but just a copy, an imitation, a shadow.

Blame no one for your missteps, decisions or choices as the final straw broken is a selection that you had and when choosing, fell solely upon your shoulders.

Question everything before agreeing to accept and when accepting be true to your commitment never cast fault upon another and honor its outcome no matter where the bones may fall.

Speak in honesty, never create false perceptions always expect the same from others yet be cautious in deception as another may not be guided by the same principles.

Be thankful for those gifts which you are graced as nothing is of luck but provided by a greater power than you or I can comprehend.

Expect the best but in life’s outcomes be grateful for all as you will find that some things are meant to be achieved while others are meant to teach and strengthen our resolve through failure. Never look back wishing for a different outcome as that time is now past and today’s adventures yet to be awakened.

Walk the path that yields the fruits of a positive outlook ever searching for optimism and truth. Always seek the best but be grateful for all. Never waste a moment for they are few.

Ever care for another as your future is unknown. Be thankful for today and wake praising the light of another dawn.

Johnny Johnston
Johnny Johnston
An artist/writer as well as graduate of the University of South Carolina with degrees in journalism/20th Century American Literature, and retired senior executive of several international hotel/resort corporations, Johnny is the product of the south having been raised in the ever-changing transient lifestyle of a Carolina coastal resort. A point where he discovered, within his 300-year-old heritage and the world's dramatic social/cultural shifts during the late '60s to early 80’s an ambitious hunger and overwhelming curiosity to touch, see and become a participant in the virtually unlimited possibilities offered to those who wish for and seek life experiences. A journey which when hearing its details initially makes one a bit skeptical, questioning its validity as it is hard to imagine that incidents such as these may have crossed one man’s lifetime. This is the fodder required to step into zones exposing one's personal inner self, which many of his paintings and the words he writes do, openly. An ability to see and hear the tragic, beautiful, accomplished, exciting journey in a life free of inhibitions allowing others the opportunity to live vicariously and become, through his works, a part of its future. His larger works which have been featured in several Colorado and Fredericksburg Texas galleries and resorts have produced a number of collectors and fans. However, over the years, his paintings are mostly viewed by friends, enthusiastic new artist encountered on the streets or a small number of acquaintances he meets when dining in local cafés with his wife.

This is my favorite verse from your story:

Walk in determination knowing that each step you take is yours and yours alone, that no man is beholden to another’s decisions and that if you choose another’s path you are never a man in yourself but just a copy, an imitation, a shadow.

    • Thanks my friend. Working my way out of the doldrums! Ever had a flat tire only to realize your spare was flat too. Get the jack out, set it up, raise the chassis and bam, it’s as flat as the one you just removed! Need to get some new oxygen for this old brain! Maybe Colorado will have the cure!
