One of the indicators that we have influence is when our words or thoughts find their way back to us via others. That influence may be for the better or otherwise. Sometimes, it can feel like we are banging our heads when trying to create change or transform situations. Particularly the complex, wicked challenges that we encounter today.
One of the things that can assist us as leaders seeking to create a better world for all, is to remember that every day in every situation, we have the opportunity to sow the seeds of the future.
What we say, how we behave, the not knowing we are humble enough to share, all carry within them the potential to inspire, empower, and influence others to find their place in leadership and support the process of improvement – of self and the whole.
Key within that is the need for patience simultaneously coupled with drive and aspiration…we have to have the vision and drive to see where change is possible for the better and yet the wisdom to be patient and allow each step of the journey to be taken by all, each in their own way confident of our support.
As we see each moment as an opportunity to seed the future, we take on the task of cultivating the soil, taking out the weeds and the dead wood of old ideas and thoughts, our own as much as others, and we plant. We plant new hopes, new ideas, and new dreams that one day, like a boomerang, will woosh back to our awareness as a confirmation that in the sometimes dark, seemingly hopeless days, in reality, new life is taking root.
