Sorrow walks into the room
Holding her head up high
Yet, with a humble posture
I welcome her in
We are old friends after all
Only a thin veil separates
Me from the perils of despair
The light she carries in her heart
I feel it in my soul
“It is not over,” she says
“Only in waiting.”
I nod
I already know
She has passed on to the stars
The music of her presence never fades
The emptiness will remain
But diminish
In time
In remembrance of our mother (1942 – 2019)
May she shine with the stars

Maria your words reached in and touched my soul. Beautiful My friend.
Thank you so much, Larry! I appreciate your words my Friend – mothers have a special place in our hearts!
Just hauntingly beautiful Maria!💖
I am happy to hear your comment, Darlene! Thank you – The feelings were very strong – it took me several weeks before I could write them down.
Beautiful Marie! My heart is with you.
Thank you so much, Helen! We never quite know what to expect when it finally happens. It is a relief someone we love no longer has to carry great pains – and yet, suddenly there is that great emptiness. A daily text message or a card that no longer gets physically sent out and gets a response. Rather a thought, a wish, a color of your heart – like a floating feather in the air.
Well said, Marie. I am going through the same thing with my mother, trying to prepare for that day when the end to her suffering is bittersweet.
My thoughts are with you, Helen! Mothers have an amazing impact on our lives. I never realized how many areas in our lives are motivated by our parents – the unwritten and often even unsaid ambitions, wishes, hopes that they portray. Even with the sorrow, I was blessed spending most of her last moments with her and feel that relief when her journey finally had a peaceful end.
