Python time sleep function serves in adding delay in the execution of a program.
I find that humans have this function as well. They sleep on taking actions when they do things in gradual steps. The problem with a gradual approach is that not only we do not see the progress soon but also we hardly notice the damage we may cause as well.
The slow progress might gloom us from seeing the bright spots of improvement. Watch the video and you shall understand exactly what I mean.
You learn a new skill and you make slow progress. For patient people, they shall see the seeds of their bamboo-like efforts suddenly shooting up.
The same applies to damaging acts. One great example is environmental pollution. Dumping did not make much harm initially, but over the years, the roots of such vicious acts are producing the greatest harm to us.
Sleeping on actions only delays their impact. However, when the impact comes it is substantial.
If we forget or neglect time does not.
Surely I agree with your sound comment, Aldo
I add only we are responsible for both the intended and unintended consequences
Making a decision, from the most trivial to the most important, is actually a constant of our existence and is what helps us to grow, change, evolve. Choosing necessarily requires taking responsibility for the consequences of our choice, accepting the “share of risk” inherent in our daily actions. And it is precisely the fear of consequences, one of the reasons why, often, many people live with strong anxiety and concern any kind of choice.
