Sight or Sound: Which Appeals Most? – A Sheer Quandary

Of late, I received information that one of my acquaintances died as he lost his job due to lockdown declared by the state and out of jittery regarding his inability to pay the debt for the borrowing securities from a financial institution, he opted for suicide. His news of death, a sheer tragedy and a big blow to our mental fabric as he gave up his hope and struggle to survive and combat the adversities he was facing.

In India, numerous people died and are regularly dying due to COVID-19, but he will be never considered as a victim of such a virus, despite owing to lockdown he lost his sustenance.

“Single death is a tragedy, but numerous death is mere statistics”! Our country is experiencing the vile impact of the second wave of Coronavirus and innumerable people are dying what we may only comprehend out of the revelation of statistics!

Our country is experiencing the vile impact of the second wave of Covid-19 and innumerable people are dying what we can only comprehend in terms of its gravity by following the statistics.

I wonder, when the theory of ‘Cytokinesis’ storm in human cellular structure could be stopped only by adopting the state machinery and followed by a strict lockdown the only resort to contain this deadly virus! How far it is pertinent to combat a virus, a micro-organism which cannot be visualized in human’s natural ordinary spectrum, an invisible threat and a mechanism of human design could be capable to contain it. How medical fraternity are supporting and aligning with the state machinery of administration to this so-called ‘only effective tool’ to combat a virus!

If a virus may continuously mutate and its variant are appeared to be an enigma, I wonder how we may combat it out of our hypothetical practise, which mainly designed on statics?
When will we ponder that out of few greedy people for mere wealth, we incessantly cut down innumerable trees and eying on the quarries to extract minerals and metals by hook or crook to statiate few greedy souls we ourselves paving the path for our perpetual extinction from this planet?

The level of pollution we are infusing to increase is surely a reason to devastate our eco-system. The osmosis of plants is an example that enables us to survive and thrive. On contrary, reverse osmosis is equally needed to maintain a balance in the environment we are living in. But, we hardly care about the myriad of life on this planet without whom our ecosystem would be jeopardized. A new challenge with a new form to confront will be a common scenario we may continuously face along with new jittery and trauma. Few are desperately plundering nature for their desired goal and thus inevitably nature will take its toll by obliterating many of us who are sheer ignorant and helpless.

Will we now still consider, “Ignorance is Bliss”?

The cloud of doubt is enveloping the majority of us and we blindly resorting to a few eccentric’s alibis and not at all reasonably judging whose welfare our glorious entrepreneurs are highlighting with what innovations and disruptions and how far their endeavors are serving mankind apart from their enviable growth of wealth at the cost of majority’s fate?

I wonder, when adequate vaccines are not available in our country India to vaccinate in order to combat this deadly virus and enable to gear up herd immunity, surprisingly policy framers of our country regarding health who are either politicians or bureaucrats, no longer having any expertise in the field of medical science, only out of statistics regarding the data of supply and demand, even determining the dosage and the time gap of the jab!

It is sad to observe a huge number of deaths taking place untimely in our country owing to Covid-19 and our crematoriums are alone not enough to satiate our comprehension, but in the water bodies I the available milieu we too observing the dead bodies are floating, giving us not only a dismal picture of the devastation we are confronting but also apprehending what more invisible viruses are yet to unfold in near future to make us more fragile with utter paranoia.

A lot of people are dying owing to the non-availability of Oxygen, adequate infrastructure along doctors and paramedics, who can fight against such abrupt adversities. The dearth of desire to do welfare for the majority of people is evident by all means. Precisely poor and downtrodden are facing huge mess. If we take pride that we are having the largest democracy in the world and we truly enjoy the right to elect our representatives who may look after the welfare of the country, then failing which we must have the right to discard them. If the government fails to perform and display brazenly sheer detriment for mankind, that government must go. It is high time to ponder about the myth of “Might is Right” and we must dare to discard might if we need to survive and get rid of the majority’s plight and ensure a safe haven for the majority to thrive.

Death is silent and screaming for life is producing huge sound. Sound having more intensity and positive appeal than the scene. We need to respond to the grueling sound to save many from this ongoing catastrophe and save humanity.

I Debasish Majumder, hailing from Kolkata, State: West Bengal, Country: India, born in a middle-class family in the year 1965 and brought up in an environment extremely favorable for me to garner knowledge from people from various walks of life. Their lives and livelihood are of immense gravity to me as I considered myself as a fortunate one to be facilitated to interact with those who possessed multi-faceted experience and thrived vigorously in their respective fields. Since my schooling as well the path of my studies till I completed my graduation in humanities and thereafter working in various organizations has enabled me to get hands-on experience about the twist and turns of life where I observed the plight of myriad who are economically vulnerable and how they combat the life and even capable to enjoy the every drop of it without complaining about their state. Since my childhood, my passion for the English language and English literature enabled me to explore the world in and around me out of fabulous authors and their valuable renditions which even unveiled front of me the true picture of nature and how it is now confronting peril out of greedy few sharks in the veil of few humans obliterating the very essence of humane! Their works encouraged me to pen down articles, short stories, and poems with my little ability and I have already had a number of paperback editions of my compilation of short stories and poems which are now available on Amazon and other global sites. My alacrity for learning regarding nature as well the society along with the people who are considered as the most precious imperative for us to be enriched. I am blessed by innumerable notable thinkers and philosophers whose works appealed to me enormously, and even helped me to shape up myself by virtue of their expressions. I am having little capacity to translate the reflections of the present society, precisely for the acumen of a myriad of learned persons who have helped me to widen my vista with their wisdom and wide array of knowledge. My sincere effort was navigated by those enlightened persons and I tried with my best of ability to reflect on the scenario I have observed in the journey of my life.
