We’ve all been there. One of those absolute crap days that started off on the wrong side of the bed and went south from there. Days when you seriously wonder if you should just hightail it back to bed, or binge with Netflix and chocolate. However, if we plan ahead we can get back in the game quicker.
Having a positive outlook, living with an attitude of gratitude, and being kind to ourselves when we do have a setback is key.
Moving ahead in the world is one step at a time. Many people don’t feel they have choices in life. Yet it’s clear, we each have choices we get to make, several times every day. Decisions are one of the best parts of life, when we choose to be aware of them, and make them consciously and wisely. Following your inner guidance system allows you to live within your core values, not someone else’s.
The first step may be to become aware of what your values are. Start at the beginning to learn what you truly believe in, what you value as important in your life, and what you will and won’t stand for. Frequently when we begin this journey, we quickly realize all the untruths, are the negativity society has heaped on us over the years. These false notions have burrowed into our subconscious and taken up residence, allowing our inner critic to read them off on a regular basis. We’ve all heard them, “You’re not smart enough.” “You drive that car?” “You’re not pretty enough.” “You use the wrong hair product.” “You’re not tall enough.” “You’re just not good enough.” The list goes on and on, and I’m here to tell you, it’s simply wrong.
You Are More Than Enough. Own your value. Your life is worthy. You are an amazing person.
Take the time today to determine what your core values are. What are core values? A quick Google search will show there are many to choose from. Mine are self-love, self-respect, self-worth, integrity, equanimity, kindness, respect, gratitude, trustworthiness, honesty, equality, sincerity, understanding, optimism, compassion, and open-mindedness. I begin with self, because I’m a firm believer that we cannot give out what we don’t have. When my cup is full of love and kindness, I can share it freely with those around me and we all win.
Once you’ve got a working list, begin making choices for your life to reflect that. You’ll quickly find that a lot of things are a choice. Choosing to act in kindness is entirely within our grasp. The choice is there. Choose wisely. You’ll begin to reap the benefits of living a life from your solid, positive core values.
Enjoy life, it is worth living!
