In an effort to create a safe and secure environment for guests and hotel employees, some hotels are installing screening devices like you find at airports for screening passengers and suitcases.

Though the article is quite useful, yet I beg to differ with Mr.Tefan.The measures suggested by him are no doubt cost saving but not at all effective. I repeat not effective. I would like to draw the attention my learned friend to the two recent attacks on hotels one in India and another in Pakistan. In Mumbai attack the terrorists managed to smuggle the sharp shooting weapons through the luggage undetected in large number. The terrorists were able to get employed six or seven employees in the mumbai hotel. This employment part could be the human blunder but the weapon smuggling could have also been checked by effective screening but that process is hazardous for the security staff. The attack on Pak hotel was more dangerous where a vehicle loaded with explosives were blown up outside the hotel. Therefore, the security in the hotels ought to be handled like the security checks at the Airports to avoid loss of valuable lives of the guests and staff. The value of human lives is more than the material cost of the security equipment required for the effective security of the star hotels all over the world.
