First of all, I acknowledge Carol Campos for her article on risk-taking as it motivated me to respond.
I have taken a number of risks in the past. The most critically damaging taken at the time was moving from one good country career-wise to another; with dramatically negative consequences. But had the risk not been taken, a most superb opportunity would not have led to another.
Taking a risk may be heart-driven, but I do not think so every time. Vibes. The heart, I believe, is similar to an entity that can almost foretell the future. The blatant risks I took were detached from my inner sense, my sixth sense, and far away from my heart’s subliminal ‘advice’
Looking back at the risks taken, one especially ignored good sense, and reality and ignored my heart’s alarm. However, had I not taken such a profound risk, life would have turned out negatively.
Without taking risks, we will always address the ‘what if’ factor. Energy, self-confidence, and determination can be the driving factors.
Only when you look back will you acknowledge that taking a risk was ideal. At the time, during a potentially awful period, taking the risk was blatant lunacy.
But all’s well that ends well. Lessons were learned and signals were respected.
