Riding the waves
of grief and hope
of despair and the invitation
to become more aware
more open-hearted
and vastly more open-minded
Relinquishing certainty
and surrendering to the complexity
of even the most minuscule
choices and the diversity
of voices weighing in and praying
each in their own way
for peace and understanding
Even though what that means
varies wildly from person to person
and moment to moment
when there is so much foment
and turmoil and suffering
and so much proffering
of opinions about what exactly
must be done
before everything implodes
or explodes
leaving us bewildered and bereft
because of the impossible heft
of what is needed to right
the wrongs of human unkindness
and blindness
And so let us pray to the Divine One
to show us the ways to better days
show us the path to peace on Earth
show us how to birth a new understanding
of the full impact of our being and doing
Show us the way to a world
that works for all.

These words poured out of me yesterday, as I wrestled with my own grief and anger and confusion and fear and great sadness. Rabbi Buchdahl of Central Synagogue in New York City in her sermon yesterday spoke of how, in times of great turmoil and tragedy, there are no words. And yet often words are all we have to bridge the divides that separate us, and seek a better way. Thank you Dennis Pitocco for sharing my words.
Your words will touch the hearts of many worldwide, Minx – we’re honored to share them with the universe…
