As beings, we have our story, experience, and vision to continue our life journey. These stories not only enlighten our consciousness but also help us connect in profound ways. Relationships do matter in our life journey with special people close to us. Feeling at home is only possible when one pins a safe and trusted bond with other individuals or another. Balancing the logical and emotional sides in any kind of relationship in our daily lives is sometimes a greater challenge in most life stories. Every relationship goes through a difficult phase. To transit these phases, a relationship should stand a meaningful trust, respect, and commitment. ‘Loyalty’ is a version of a committed and trusted relationship in the long run. The relationships with loyalty reflect human-centric experience and opulence.
Is loyalty a choice or a duty? It is built to create a positive environment or bond in societies. Individuals choose to be loyal to their loved ones, family, religion, or country to reflect dedication. Every spiritual or religious discipline has taught us to be loyal to the highest power, called the almighty god. Like any other, my background helped me to assimilate my bhakti (devotion) towards the divine, relations, nature, knowledge, and disciplines to selflessly serve and fulfill my kartavyas (duties) in life. Relating it to choice or duty, our free will is available to guide us. Commonly, loyalty is seen among individuals or groups who share supportive, honest, and faithful tones for one another.
Loyalty opens a way to belonging, respect, and trustworthy relationships in communities for productive endeavors.
In my observation, loyal people are sensitive and emotional. Due to their nature, many question their capability to act logically. When presented with challenges, some show their true side in life. Whereas, loyal people stand head-up to support, help, and care for others to overcome any struggles without discrimination or judgement. Being an emotional person, my definition of loyalty is more than a choice. I feel it bridges to purpose, intention, integrity, and identity. Often, it is easy to comprehend that loyalty is not necessary or a weakness in life. Don’t we need to evaluate our assimilation of loyalty or loyal people? In an agreeable tone, we may dismiss the necessity of loyalty for anything or as a subject. For me, loyalty extends its presence shared by a group or a person beyond just a necessity or a subject. I consider it an essential tool to connect and build networks for a healthy environment. Consequently, we cultivate individuals with trustworthiness, high self-awareness, and genuine traits in society. In the future, if a situation arises to question others’ loyalty for whatever reason, please mindfully reflect before acting based on your understanding. And if the situation demands, do not let others toss your self-worth when your loyalty is questioned.
A loyal person in any relationship or social structure might face a roadblock when encountering practical philosophy. Sometimes, loyalty costs happiness to follow moral grounds. Genuinely, I was taken by Kantianism by looking at loyalty as a virtue in any connection. Do we see this virtue of loyalty practiced in only a narrow way, or does it also weigh moral dimensions in society? Given the situation, we might have sensed that people do show their loyalty to people who might be incorrect on moral grounds. Loyalty may differ accordingly to individuals. The word ‘Loyalty’ made a thought-provoking concept for me to see its presence categorically. Many of us may agree or vary in defining its presence from our situation or real-life perspective.
Does loyalty have a value? Yes, as we discussed, it is a positive trait that could contribute to harmonious and friendly relations. Some consider loyalty as a principle that fundamentally assists an individual in decision-making. Loyalty is a contributing factor for common good ventures in social and popular causes to illuminate humanity and compassion. In the professional realm, loyalty does make numerous statements leading to a healthy working environment, belongingness, and networks. In the business community, it creates a brand image or reputation, customer retention, motivated shareholders, and transactions leading to profitable long-term results. Loyalty is a principle in the business environment that tracks long-lasting benefits such as revenue, value of brand, customer loyalty, and building strong business associations.
Generally, every living creature connects through love and loyalty. As we are aware, pets and animals do show their devotion through actions or gestures. I do not see humans as having anything less to offer. The relationships do not crash if we establish a belongingness and comfort for others to reciprocate their loyalty.
The word ‘Loyalty’ is a palette of sincere, reliable, and honest tones to build a healthy community or relations.
Nowadays, people are inclined towards a materialistic or self-centered mindset that sets a storm in a teacup for people to either show loyalty or value loyalty. Loyalty is an inaccessible commodity as the market is full of deceitful, selfish, and false narratives, making us more doubtful, anxious, insecure, and suspicious beings. Unfortunately, we are shaped to be singular and skeptical in many ways.
On the contrary, many stories help us journey towards loyalty in life. Otherwise, we cannot see the light of humanity living in this world. On gaining realistic confidence, I feel we cannot limit that loyalty is not available to access. Feel blessed that many people around me, other than my family, have shown loyalty through support, encouragement, help, consideration, satisfaction, and in many more ways in my life. That is a reason loyal people are loving, caring, and sharing in my experience. But if tested with unworthy acts or unnecessary situations, they never hesitate to bring invincible challenges for others. To avoid such interactions, one can be more sensitive, transparent, or inclusive while dealing with such circumstances.
The only thing I learnt and suggest is that you imagine yourself in others’ position when loyalty is at stake. I think we can be grateful to disloyal people as well, who have taught us the true meaning of loyalty as a life lesson to value and practice it mindfully. That being so, recognizing and treasuring loyal people in life is one of the best decisions for peace and harmony in the world’s communities. Rejoice in Loyalty for oneness, my friends.
