What is the greatest lie humans like to tell?
It is the idea that someone or something outside of me can make me happy or unhappy.
Rumi said:
When I was young, I was clever so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am seeking to change myself.
We can’t change the past but we can change our beliefs, behaviors, and actions moving forward.
Nothing has changed because we are still living a life based upon external guidelines, rules, and other people’s opinions- many of which are flawed and unfair, to begin with!
It is time to shift internally. Time for everything to change.
Are you ready to take radical responsibility?
Radical responsibility is simply taking responsibility for our own wellbeing, whether that’s physical health, psychological health, or spiritual health.
It’s about not looking outside ourselves for a solution.
Good news: We can all begin to change our own inner patterns – anytime we want —Every day we have the ability and the opportunity to create a more accepting world.

I agree that one can’t change the past. Nor, in all likelihood can a person change the world. That is a dream of the young, as you noted. Yes, we can change our condition, the way and location of where we live, and much about our attitudes. I have outgrown the urge to please the world, or to measure up to some standard (s) that the outside thrusts at me. I for one have outlived the need to please others, or to conform to their opinions. I am comfortable in doing the best I can each day. I’m comfortable with myself, warts, failings, and all. The world will either have to accept me as I am, or leave me in peace.
