EVERY CULTURE has developed proverbs, parables, and sayings that were meant to teach a lesson, a universal truth, an ethical standard, or a moral code. Even many of the stories for children were so designed.
But in today’s fast paced and high tech world we sometimes brush over or ignore those basic truths. Many young leaders and want to be leaders think that if it isn’t new it isn’t relevant today. Those that would be leaders would do well to take some of those old lessons to heart.
One of my favorites is an Arabic saying: “An army of lions lead by a sheep will always be defeated by an army of sheep led by a lion.”
As a leader are you a lion or a sheep? What other parables have lessons for today’s leaders? What basic truths have served you well?

Dear Ken,
Here are 3 of my favourites
“The smarter you are, the less you speak.”
“If you’re unable to reward, then make sure to thank.”
“Lack of intelligence is the greatest poverty.”
