Do you “feel” so passionately that you “say and do” some fairly impactful things in the moment of raging feelings (that you wish you could take back)? MmmmHmmm, it’s one of the ways we are all “normal!”
What if you acknowledged the principled truth about feelings:
? feelings (alone) often lie;
? feelings often exaggerate the facts and reality;
? feelings usually simmer down with a little time;
? feelings can change about the same situation;
? feelings are like sand under our feet (feels unique and free-spirited, but is not stable).
Here’s the Deal about Managing Feelings: if you will exit the stage when feelings are raging (MmmmHmmm, zip the lips) and wait until they simmer down, you’ll experience the great benefits of wisdom.
Here’s the Second Deal: Feelings generally will follow Decisions.
So, get with a trusted friend, mentor, counselor, or coach and learn the principle truth of wise decision making based on boundaries and developing right-living character traits.
BOOM! Life changing relationship interactions, peace, and joy. I promise. How can I promise?
Because I’ve walked through hell a few times (but I didn’t camp out there). I finally slapped my brain into listening to God’s way of dealing with life, love, and relationships. It’s a beautiful thing, Y’all! Have I been perfect (as in not making mistakes or being wrong at times)? No, goodness no! But, do I have the overcoming tools to work with now? Yes! And, so much of life has become so much better because of these tools.
Has my life been all chocolates and sweet adventures because of these Life Tools? No. But, the tools help me through whatever “living” I need to experience. They are THE difference-makers.
