I have not had the joy of seeing my grandchildren for nearly a year and a half. It doesn’t really matter why; it would not do any good to the soul to elaborate. I am blessed and will take this morsel to watch my grandchildren grow up through the shared media of Instagram, Pinterest, FaceBook, etc, sad, but true.
Even my son and daughter – I see them through their own selected media. The reason I even bring this up is that I am very pro-military. I love our Police officers that protect and serve, I love our Country, I love the Freedom (with what restrictions it has) and I love Old Glory.
I mentioned in one of my recent posts that I had seen Hilary’s America and I think everyone should see it. Most importantly, I watch our youth to see how they would view our country, and I have to say that although there are many who have no clue as to what is happening in our world, there are many who do have a clue as to what lies ahead.
Recently, I saw this post on my daughter’s website, of my grandson’s back to school backpack.
He’s only 12, but someday, I know he will be involved in politics, if not military. He’s a strong and intelligent soul who loves this country he was born into. From what I see, he can pick a clay pigeon right out of the air on the first pull. ( Second Amendment Rights)
I sometimes wonder who will fill the empty spots of our depleting military. Will our country be able to defend itself if need be. We have given up so much over the last 8 years. My grandson may be young, but he’s in tune to what is happening today, and he knows that changes have to come.
I know that I as a grandmother, do not have the only grandson who loves this country, but do we have enough to fight for the freedom it was founded on and the courage to stand up for the difference between right and wrong.!
It’s not everyone, but you know who you are; Millennials, those who have their head in the sand, go to their jobs every day in their cars of style, and perhaps get together with co-workers to have a drink or two on a Friday night. They have the latest technology. What would happen if our country lost the freedom to provide that safe haven for those who seem to think nothing is wrong, and it only matters how much money can be made, the car I drive, etc. Generations like my grandson know and they welcome anyone to stand along side of our military men and women, Marines, Navy Army, Air Force, Law Enforcement, Firefighters, Boarder patrol, Coast guard, basic Homeland Security.
Hat’s off to you Joseph, nana loves you and prays for you every day so that you will…
I understand your story, Lynn. Thank you for telling your story. My grandson wanted to join the Marines since age 14. He is now a Corporal – but when it comes time to reenlist I wonder if he will. From his experience will he wonder as we all do, “Will our country be able to defend itself if need be. We have given up so much..” and the respect for the uniform has suffered. Some because those wearing it were not honorable. Others, because of rebellious people who neither value nor appreciate authority, even when done right.
