Musings of a Discouraged American (Volume 4)

by Joe Anderson, Featured Contributor

A Failed Leader

I watched the speech given by Mr. Obama this past week and the image of Frank Burns, the character in MASH kept coming to mind. if you’ve ever watched MASH, Burns is the Army Major doctor who acted like he was the second coming of General Patton but had absolutely no conviction or courage…he was basically a coward. He talked a good game until challenged at which time he would start whining and whimpering and then slither away, muttering to himself. That’s was my impression of Mr. Obama last night.

american discouragedI’m neither Democrat nor Republican, I vote for the person I believe will lead America for Americans…all Americans, not just for special interest groups or for political expediency. Mr. Obama is not a leader of all Americans, he leads those things that serve his own interests or politics.

The presidency hasn’t failed America; the man elected to serve as President has failed the office of President of the United States and has failed America. A failed leader is one who refuses to lead, who refuses to do the right thing, one who is only focused on himself and not those he has been entrusted to lead. A leader never speaks of himself as the “hero”; he speaks of the team, of the people who do the dirty work…the men and women in the arena. A good leader listens to his advisors and values their judgment.  But not so for Mr. Obama, he believes he’s the “smartest guy in the room” …the wisest of all.

So why was everything he said during his speech a 180 degree flip from what he’s said in the past and why was it important for him to continually remind us just how great he believes he is? I admit to a healthy dose of skepticism here but my sense is because the poll numbers show that America thinks he’s a lousy leader…a failure…. and he it did because it was good politics…to make him look good. I saw or heard nothing in his speech that made me believe he cared one whit about America, despite his rhetoric and flag lapel pin. It wasn’t so much about ISIS as it was all about him …trying to make himself sound courageous and decisive…not because he cares about America…because all he cares about is himself and his agenda to neuter America.

Mr. Obama does not respect America, does not respect America’s values or its heritage. Electing a Community Organizer as President is like promoting the mail room clerk to CEO…a dumb move because it just doesn’t work. Mr. Obama might have been a good community organizer but he’s a complete failure as President.

  1. I heard the same speech and was sorely disappointed. It lacked substance. Just because BHO says ISIL (ISIS) is a JV team does mean they are. Just because BHO says ISIL (ISIS) is not Islamic does not mean they are not. This president has utilized lies and deception and has avoided transparency more than any past American president.
