Gateway to Heaven
I believe we like to think we can achieve a place in our minds and hearts where it feels as if there is heaven on earth. It gives us a sense of comfort as if we are safe, and that there is meaning to life.
Have you ever been to a tropical island or a place so surreal and distant from the mundane of the everyday world you live in, that you may say “this is my little slice of heaven.”
What you are really saying is, the drama and chaos of the reality in which I live is too much bringing stress, unpleasant experiences and keeping me stuck in a place I do not wish to be. So, we take “vacations” and “trips” to unplug and remove ourselves from the density of the heaviness of the hatred, anger, wars, and all the things that are naturally not good for us.
If you take a moment and settle into peace, letting go of all the noise in the mind and connection to the chaos of the external world, you can feel something wanting to get your attention.
It is not seen, nor is it tangible.
This life force energy is only felt, through experience. Only those who have been touched by the wisp of this living organism can truly understand it’s magnificence. When a person is encumbered by mental agitation, physical dis-ease, and spiritual depletion the ability to even slightly be graced by this dynamic pulse is nearly impossible.
However, if the will is engaged from a desire to create a new reality for ourselves and with determination, grit, and a strong push from within, we can open a gateway to heaven.
One definition of heaven is the sky, especially perceived as a vault in which the sun, moon, stars, and planets are situated. Galileo used a telescope to “observe the heavens.” Lay on your back on a star-studded night where you can see the billions of flickers of their light. You may even get to see a shooting star! What emotions do you feel, what comes to mind, what happens to your body? I will bet you feel at peace and a connection, you think about heaven and good things, and your body is totally relaxed.
I love looking up into the skies and wonder, what is that all about?
When we bring to mind the word heaven, we look up. Is our current world not inclusive of the sun, moon, stars, and planets? Yes, it is! If we imagine the big, blue planet we all reside in together is a piece of heaven as described above, then would it not be possible to enjoy the same feelings and experiences as our vacation or trip to a tropical island on a regular basis? Are we not already within reach of heaven?
In my own thinking, we do not need to wait for our last out-breath to travel to a heaven somewhere out there. Rather, we can already reside in heaven here and now.

In my experience, it is as simple as quieting the mind, putting my focus on what feels good, always being in a state of higher awareness of what is my truth in the moment, thinking and making choices that enables me to be at peace in mind, body and spirit, and practicing the gratitude attitude.
We are but a micro in the macro of life. Heaven and earth can be viewed as one and the same. The key is, do we open ourselves up to recognizing we are already there?
