A Story: The Traveler
An Extraordinary Life
There is a sight to behold, the traveler on his bike, loaded with bags for a long trip. Only a map and his heart set on reaching his destination rounds out the belongings that are a part of the picture. A weight was lifted, leaving all he knew behind, years of collecting material items and personal strife. There was a tipping point at which he had to take a step back, look at his life from the observer’s perspective. Putting the brakes on the energy train that had brought him to his knees, fists in the air, angrily telling the powers that be, he was done and wanted something better and more extraordinary.
With tears in eyes, a strong man indeed, emotions had welled up like a waiting volcano to explode.
The traveler knew it was time for him to go, explore the next stage that seemed to lay in front of him, only the beginning visible. It was not an easy task, to study and learn of the mistakes made and the web he had woven unknowingly. Although it seemed as though he was “caught” by the black widow tending to the threads, the traveler laid silent while watching and prepared.
The day had dawned, one he had set and intended to break free, only take what he could fit on the motorcycle’s back. A lone ranger on the road of destiny, not knowing what would be along the path, just trusting his gut and the visions he had seen. The deep knowing, this is the right move to make, for the strength he once knew was slowly showing a trace of bursting through the walls that had been built.
His eyes on the road, but his mind adrift, in one of those daydream states, while mesmerized by the landscape, the traveler is overcome by an empowering force. He is carried away, in a strong current, a riptide of sorts not drowning, but lifted. The higher he went, the lighter he felt, until there was a gentle release landing on a big field. An extraordinary view lay before him, so crisp and clear, seemed so real he wanted to touch and smell it as if he was really there. Off in the distance was a patch of woods, he could faintly hear the soft movement of a stream within the trees.
The traveler felt a pull, one he had experienced before, but this time it is stronger. Not quite sure what it means or why it is there, but he knows he must follow it. If he turns his back, the woods beckon him to turn around, as if the Lady of the Lake, is encouraging him to come to her. There is a whisper, barely audible, but the deeper part of him hears what is spoken. He stands there soaking in the environment, the words, and the feelings. The traveler does not want to leave, but suddenly he feels himself falling and falling, and falling, getting heavier until he is slammed back into his body.
Awakened from this daydream with a startle, the traveler pulled off the side of the road to gain his composure and regroup. He steps off the bike to stretch his legs and look over the horizon towards the setting sun. Knowing nightfall is soon to come, he closes his eyes so he can remember what just happened. Climbing on the bike, with a knowing smile, the traveler continues his journey, feeling satisfied that all is just as it is meant to be.
The webs we weave are the layers of life’s experiences. We can wipe them out and start all over at any time. If we have a toxic environment or relationship, it is possible to reframe life’s path. The Lady of the Lake represents a gold apple for immortality and a red apple for transformation. When we define what our path will be along with the pull of destiny, extraordinary things can happen.
Today’s Lesson: An extraordinary life can be defined in many ways. When we follow the nuggets given to us in dreams, daydreams, and visions, we get clues about the destiny we are given. Life is not all about the material things, money, houses, and cars. The true gifts are the extraordinary experiences we have that takes our breath away.
Pay attention to what happens in your life, including the people and the events. Each one of them is a clue as to where you are heading. Sometimes we are being pulled in a direction and do not know why but can feel it is meant to be.
