Who Am I?
We go through life striving to meet other’s expectations of who they want us to be. If we are lucky, at a young age, we plant our feet in knowing our authenticity. Most of us have not.
At any time, we can wake up to the thought, who am I?
Do we ever really get a clear picture and/or knowing of the authentic self? In my experience, it is a lifelong journey. The imposter self can be chipped away revealing what has been hiding in the shadows, and the authentic person steps into the spotlight onto the road less traveled.
Now, we are the traveler, curious about what will be unveiled. When I realized I was living from the idea of what someone else wanted me to be, it required me to step through letting go of “her” and reuniting with the person I have become and continue to evolve into.
She is of a different nature than the mirror of what I had been looking at all those years. There seems to be an unseen wisdom, one that is readily available and a permanent part of the whole. Her spirit is not broken, rather it is as free as the childlike wonder born into the fabric of her soul.
The shedding of the layers weighing me down from the years of taking on that which did not belong to me left an indelible mark. I go between who I was and who I am, measuring the differences with the intention to strengthen the authentic me.
It is not easy, and much has been sacrificed in the process. But more has been gained.
Self-respect
Self- love
Self-empowerment
There are many twists and turns, as well as, life lessons galore. The lessons seem to be the push needed to fall more into embracing the new authentic me.
It has allowed the passage of time to gain courage and confidence of the path laid before me, giving nuggets of truth and information. This, in turn, gives credence to life purpose and passion. Testing the waters of the emergence of creativity flowing through me, as I pursue avenues where doors have opened, is a blessing.
Who am I?
…a woman of fearlessness
…a being of creation
…a breath of life itself
Being authentic is a gift you can give yourself. Break down the walls, find the truths within and see a new and bright world emerge.
Authenticity is the daily practice of letting go of who we think we’re supposed to be and embracing who we are.

Great muse my friend. I am not always sure who I am. Each day brings new challenges and how we react defines who I am for that moment, yet I always know who I strive to be. Thank you for your inspiration.
Thank you Larry! That is great you always know who you strive to be. It seems through challenges, we can better define who we are. Each moment is an opportuity to take an assessment, which then allows us to look deeper into whether we are operating from other’s beliefs and influence or from our sense of self and autonomy. Consider who you are outside of our normal labels….son, father, manager, ect. The person away from labels is who you really are, and each time you have an ah, ha on the path of letting go in order to become, that person you strive to be takes hold. You are most welcome for the inspiration. Cheers!
