A Story: The Gypsy
Metamorphosis
Being a free spirit has its pluses and minuses. To roam the roads of life with a different perspective than others, one that may not be understood can sometimes be tricky. The Gypsy often contemplates what it would be like to have a colorful existence where acceptance of each person’s uniqueness is embraced.
In environments where the creative spirit has freedom to express through their choice of the arts whether it is music, dance, writing, poetry, inventing, designing, creating and/or exploring, she feels at home.
As she walks away from the comfort of the woods, her mind brings her back to the present. She follows the markings on the trail while considering what has brought her to this place in her life.
The Gypsy has had an amazing transformation, just as a butterfly has its metamorphosis. As she steps over the threshold leaving behind the wonders of nature and moving forward through the misty curtain into the outer world, a familiar pulse runs up her spine.
She breaks out into a sprint, gleefully running to her house, excited about what tomorrow will bring. When the door closed behind her, the Gypsy looks around with satisfaction believing she is right where she is meant to be. That evening she lays her head down, drifting off to sleep, feeling an inner peace surrounded by an air of softness, like an angel wrapping their wings around her.
The morning rings in with birds chirping, a warm breeze and a clear blue sky. The Gypsy welcomes this new day, envigored to begin taking the steps towards realizing her dreams.
She grabs her journal and slips out onto the porch overlooking a small pond filled with geese, ducks, and jumping fish. Finding a good spot in the shade on the swinging bench, she settles into chronicling her thoughts for the morning.
Her entry begins with her own metamorphosis breaking out of the cocoon.
“Asking myself, who am I?, was the catalyst for the awakening of the butterfly I became. I was not aware that I was in a cocoon, preparing for life after the death of who I was. It seems for me to achieve the things that mattered, my life purpose, I had to go through this metamorphosis. Three key things that I have learned:
- The Energy of Love – I no longer resist life and let the energy of love flow within me. I choose to be its expression. This source of peace again flows freely.
- All That I Am – All that there is and there will be are wrapped up as one. From the smallest cell to the infinity of the Universe. Once again, I have found my true identity, my authenticity.
- There is A Lightness – I free myself from judgments, exercise forgiveness and accept life as it presents itself. Obstacles are a necessary experience as I grow towards my inner peace and a lightness born from within.
I start each day with gratitude, so I can enjoy the gifs of the universe so neatly wrapped in the people I meet, the dreams I have, and the adventures carving a life story.”

Each milestone in our life can be considered a metamorphosis, where we go through the stages of growth to become a better and more exceptional version of ourselves. It is change in the form or nature of a person into a completely different one. There is a change on the inside that reflects on change on the outside. A butterfly does not know its beauty, it just flies freely, and we admire nature’s miracle in splashes of color and design.
Today’s Lesson: If we consider the miracles of life itself and the evolution of mankind, we can admire the amazing transformations that have taken place. Our ability to keep going forward, continuously weaving our individual and group chrysalis within, we ultimately evolve into the magnificence we can be.
There are struggles through the stages, but in the end, growth is inevitable leading to something greater. The cycle of a butterfly repeats itself, and the same can be said for humans. Each steppingstone within the seasons of our life, we find ourselves in a cocoon, getting ready to explode out into the world, a new and better version of who we were.
