She crawled up my body into my arms,
Like a spider fearlessly ascends the wall.
But in actuality- it was my heart she had climbed into.
She is not of my blood,
And yet she is family.
She is unable to communicate verbally,
And yet her energy speaks volumes.
A connection so deep,
love flows out of her eyes,
And her smile, her chest, her hair,
Her hands, and her very pores.
I feel you baby, I see you.
I am in awe of your fierce courage.
The bravery that keeps you moving forward,
Defying every boundary any doctor has set.
I see the buttons you push,
The mischievous grin.
The strength you have pulled from your parents,
Who didn’t even know what they were capable of,
You change people.
For the better.
You are love. Personified.
