I read a recent post by Biljana Savic in which she mentioned her visualization of clouds as nests of storks. Heavy clouds look like storks’ nests, some of which weigh more than one and a half tons. Such nests take great effort and time to build. This has given the tendency of storks to exploit existing nests without contributing to building them.
This behavior of exploitation reminded me of exploitation by humans of the efforts of others without contributing to them.
Humans have found new methods of exploitation, such as
- Employing children to work
- Exploiting workers by forcing them to work extended hours for very low wages. Worse, if a worker is injured during work hours he gets no treatment or compensation on top of losing his job.
- Paying women unfair salaries compared to men even though they do similar work.
- Sexual harassment of needy women and threatening them if they do not yield
- Managers crediting the work of others for themselves.
- Delaying wages for a long time and lending workers money for unfair interest rates. These reached the level of lending money in the morning and paying it back the same day evening time at a 20% interest rate.
- Exploiting the raw materials of a nation at very low prices.
- Stealing human organs and selling them including those of the dead.
- Exploiting immigrants by employing them at very low prices and treating them like slaves.
- Exploiting power not to influence but to force people to do what they do not like to do or doing dirty and illegal work.
- Having information and denying it to others to make profits?
What do you feel if somebody moves into your house, which you sweated to build and forces you out of it?
Fairness and justice are essential needs for humans and for their dignity. Exploitation kills the spirit of humans. They are not physically dead, but exploited people live a life that is as good as if they were dead.
Where do these different ways of exploitation lead humanity?
