This week on Leadership Moments, my guest was Sherri Paris, Chief Operating Officer with Providence Health and Services. What does a COO do? There’s an ongoing need for the COO to maintain a close awareness of what’s going on in her areas of responsibility. Sherri uses a daily “huddle” with her key players to keep track of what’s going on. Her day also considers what is coming down the pike in terms of future business, organizational strategy, business planning (“How do we back ourselves into what we want to do next?”) I’m also responsible for being a leadership liaison between departments managers which requires meeting with them (there are about 14 people) to help them with their work and their development.
