I know I may be dating myself, but that is okay since great ideas are timeless. I began to think about the song “Imagine” by John Lennon. How many have really listened to the lyrics or read them? The main message is, have you comprehended them?
For the moment, let’s forgo the religious implications and concentrate on what it means to us. My interpretation, and you will have your own, is that there are no bounds to what one can imagine if you try. And in this world, if you imagine it, believe in it and yourself, you can achieve it. So, by logic, there is nothing blocking u achieving what we want, except ourselves.
He goes on to say if I am a dreamer… Well, if you do not dream you do not progress and you are not truly alive. So, take some time to dream for yourself…what you want…what your heart desires. “but I’m not the only one”, conveys the notion that you cannot and should not downplay, criticize, or even limit another’s dreams just because you may not agree or you are so institutionalized in your prison.
I feel the hardest one for Westerners, especially in the USA, to grasp is, “Imagine no possessions”. Well, this is the basis of our society. We go to work to possess more things, for whatever motivation. What if we, just for a few minutes, imagined no possessions. How liberating would that be? How much energy could we free up to dream, create, or just enjoy life?
If you want proof of this concept, think of the great entrepreneurs, inventors, and innovators throughout time. Did they allow what they experienced with their senses to limit what they could dream, and thus accomplish? The answer is ABSOLUTELY NOT! For, by transcending the established ideas of the mundane and the followers they achieved greatness, not for themselves, but for humanity.
So, who is willing to join me in the Imagine space and accomplish their dreams?
