“College is the best years of your life” – this is a statement every student hears over and over again. It can be hard to agree with it if you’re a student who is stressed with final exams and late assignments. Spending endless hours cooped up in the library is hardly the epitome of living life to the fullest, right? In this article we’re going to take a look at some of the reasons why – despite the stress and sleepless nights – college really is the best years of your life.
You Don’t Have to Deal with Financial Stress
You’re studying to get a degree and you’ve taken out a student loan from a private lender in order to pay for college. You’ve used a student loan calculator so you can build expected payments into your budget. You don’t have to worry about paying for college fees as the loan has all that covered and you have enough money to live on comfortably. You go out and eat pizza with friends and drive a car that’s in good condition. All that being said, you’re doing ok financially.
Once you graduate, that all changes. The real world will now be your new home and you’ll have to come to terms with repaying your student loans. You’ll have to look for a job and find a new place to live. All of these responsibilities can increase your stress levels and leave you feeling like you want to go back to college again.
You’ll Find Your Tribe
College is your time to get to know yourself and find your tribe. You’ll be surrounded by such a large and diverse group of people who are full of passion and ambition. Every day will be a learning experience and you’ll get to spend time with people who have different views to you. You’ll learn what you like and what you dislike and, ultimately, you’ll find peace in who you are and you’ll surround yourself with the right people. The friends you make in college may end up being the best friends you’ll ever have and you’ll go through life having shared the most amazing times together.
Sense of Adventure
These are the days where you’ll be able to do what you want – to a certain extent – without having to worry too much. If you’re up to date with assignments and you have the funds, what’s to stop you from going to see your favorite band play live? If you’re interested in travel and exploring different countries, why not sign up for a study abroad program? This will give you access to cheap travel and a whole host of new life adventures.
First Sense of Independence
You’ve been living at home with your parents up until now and you’ve been confined by their rules. Now, for the first time, you get to stand on your own two feet and make your own decisions. You’ll be in control of where you go, what you eat, what you buy and who you see. You can stay up until 4am and no one is going to be breathing down your neck telling you to get to bed. You’ll have to make a decision on every small detail of your day and you’re going to love that feeling of being in complete control.
