A DECADE+ OF STORYTELLING POWERED BY THE BEST WRITERS ON THE PLANET

WE DON'T DO IT ALL, BUT WE DO IT ALL "FOR GOOD"

BE PART OF THE LEGACY

TAMPA BAY • FEBRUARY 23-24 2026

This FINAL encore experience will be unlike any other. Because like everything we do, it's been "reimagined" from beginning to end. It's not a virtual or hybrid event. It's not a conference. It's not a seminar, a workshop, a meeting, or a symposium. And it's not your typical run-of-the-mill everyday event crammed with stages, keynote speeches, team-building exercises, PowerPoint presentations, and all the other conventional humdrum. Because it's up close & personal by design. Where conversation trumps presentation. And where authentic connection runs deep.

Introduction to Consciousness and Reality: Exploring the Fabric of Existence

I’ve been an explorer of consciousness for nearly 50 years, thrust into an experience of cosmic consciousness as a teen and curious about the notion that we are it condensed into form, a bit unaware. Decades of trials and tribulations, and necessary experience, only encouraged my radical curiosity and persistence in learning how it all works. I’m still learning and feel what I’ve learned at least deserves exploration and ponderings from others as we attempt to reconfigure a world into a ‘new normal.’

In the vast expanse of human inquiry, few questions are as profound and enduring as those concerning the nature of consciousness and the essence of reality.

This exploration delves into the intricate dance between the seen and unseen, the known and the mysterious, weaving through the fabric of existence to understand how we, as conscious beings, experience and shape our universe.

The Quest for Understanding

At the heart of this quest lies the fundamental question: How do we experience reality? This inquiry is not merely philosophical but encompasses the realms of science, spirituality, and beyond, inviting us to consider the myriad ways in which reality manifests and intertwines with consciousness. I had a spiritual awakening as a teen that could be classified as cosmic consciousness or samadhi. My curiosity of nearly 50 years continues as I seek to explore and explain my discoveries through wordsmithing.

I wouldn’t say I have a lot of answers, or any for that matter, yet I’ve been able to observe and report on some interesting perspectives that shape our perceptions and the reality that emerges as a result. We’re all unique, yet we all have something to contribute uniquely to a collective planetary civilization in process of emerging through all the growing pains.

Consciousness: The Observer and the Observed

Consciousness, often defined as the state of being aware of and able to think about one’s existence, experiences, and the environment, is as elusive as it is central to our understanding of reality. It is the lens through which we perceive the world, a bridge between the internal and external, the subjective and the objective. Yet, despite its ubiquity, it remains one of the most enigmatic aspects of human existence, resisting a singular, encompassing definition.

My explorations of this experience are unique in apocalyptic chats I host for One World in a New World, with over 150 interviews and an impressive array of people from across the life and business spectrum. My goal is to share the experiences of others so they can process them, asking poignant and probing questions about their experience that they’ve never been asked, in most cases. There is a common thread, though I won’t spoil it and leave you to discover it, hopefully.

Models of Reality: From Material to Multidimensional

Traditionally, reality has been viewed through a materialistic lens, emphasizing the physical and tangible aspects of the universe. This perspective, grounded in empirical science, has led to significant advancements in our understanding of the natural world. However, it often overlooks the less tangible, subjective experiences of consciousness, love, and spirituality, which are equally fundamental to the human experience.

Emerging from this limitation are models that embrace a more holistic view of reality, integrating the physical with the metaphysical, and the empirical with the experiential. These models propose that reality is not merely a collection of physical objects and forces but includes dimensions of consciousness, intention, and interconnectedness that transcend the material plane.

The Nine Planes of Consciousness: A Ladder to the Divine

One such model explores the concept of nine planes of consciousness, each representing a different level of awareness and existence. From the physical realm to the highest spiritual echelons, these planes offer a framework for understanding the evolution of consciousness and its journey toward unity with the divine. This model suggests that our experience of reality is layered, with each plane offering unique insights and challenges, guiding souls on their path of ascension and enlightenment.

I was introduced to the Multiplane Awareness Technique (William Swygard, 1950s) in the summer of 1989 and truncated the experience, thinking I was done prematurely. Imagine meeting various aspects of yourself strung out across nine other planes of consciousness and then, instead of just visiting, you bring them home to live with you. Suffice it to say I was startled awake that night by what felt like a loud party in my room, which I later learned was those aspects of my own consciousness come to play.

The Intersection of Science and Spirituality

The Triadic Dimensional-Distinction Vortical Paradigm (TDVP) stands as a testament to the confluence of science and spirituality, proposing a multidimensional reality where consciousness plays a fundamental role. This paradigm challenges the traditional boundaries between the physical and non-physical, suggesting that reality is a complex, interwoven tapestry of dimensions that include but are not limited to, the three spatial dimensions and time.

The notion that consciousness, space, and time are tethered across nine dimensions nested perfectly with my direct experience of the Multiplane Awareness Technique. It resonated strongly, which gave me cause to peer further into the relationships between these dimensions/planes within our consciousness and explore our ability to not just perceive, to integrate them in our quest for a better self and world.

Spiral Dynamics: Evolution of Human Consciousness

Adding to the multidimensional model is the concept of Spiral Dynamics, a psychological approach that maps the evolution of human consciousness through various stages of complexity and worldview. This model illuminates the dynamic nature of consciousness, highlighting how societal and individual values evolve in response to life conditions, leading to an ever-expanding understanding of reality.

Our journeys toward self-awareness, perhaps even self-actualization and self-realization, are full of challenges in seeking definition, order, and substance that manifests as a visceral experience, beyond understanding and intellect. Direct experience is the truth of our knowledge and understanding. We have over 8 billion direct experiences that vary immensely, yet seeking harmony is at their core. Being able to observe our individual experience allows us to measure our own mettle, and adjust accordingly.

The Urantia Book: A Cosmic Perspective

The Urantia Book offers a comprehensive cosmic perspective, blending spiritual, philosophical, and scientific insights into the nature of the universe, the evolution of consciousness, and the role of humanity in the grand scheme of existence. It presents a universe teeming with life, governed by divine laws, and oriented towards spiritual growth and the realization of divine love.

I was introduced to this material shortly after my experience of cosmic consciousness as if to let me know there were far more beings and worlds than my philosophy contained to date. The presentation of information not contained elsewhere seems to build upon early writings, such as the Vedas, yet exponentially expands the scope to planetary, solar system and universe affairs.

Practical Implications: Living in a Multidimensional Reality

Understanding these models and perspectives has profound implications for how we live our lives and interact with the world. Recognizing the multidimensional nature of reality encourages us to adopt a more holistic approach to our existence, valuing not just the material but also the spiritual, emotional, and mental dimensions of life.

For me, this ‘nature of reality’ continues to spark my interest as an experience of this and other worlds that deepen on a daily basis and life unfolds answers to questions decades old. We can’t really experience more until we have a good grasp on what is in front of us and immediately within us. There are many inexplicable serendipitous and synchronistic moments to be mere coincidences. I suspect we interact with many worlds and just aren’t quite aware of them, yet.

Toward a Harmonious Existence

As we navigate the complexities of consciousness and reality, the potential for harmony among people and the planet becomes increasingly evident. By embracing a more inclusive understanding of existence, one that acknowledges the interconnectedness of all life, we can inspire actions and attitudes that foster unity, compassion, and sustainability. We sense first, then think, as a new habit that acknowledges a more subtle reality that operates sublimely.

Discoveries in science and advances in technology continue to reveal opportunities to evolve our understanding, from quantum theories and proofs to the emotional intelligence of ChatGPT. To an observer, there would seem to be evidence that humanity is being nurtured toward a great awakening or transformation into a ‘new normal’ that moves beyond the command and control of competition. There is a ‘sense’ of understanding that is emerging in developing relationships of passion and purpose.

Conclusion: A Journey of Exploration and Integration

The exploration of consciousness and reality is a journey without end, a perpetual quest for understanding that challenges and enriches us. As we delve into the fabric of existence, weaving together the threads of science, spirituality, and subjective experience, we embark on a transformative path. This journey invites us to open our minds and hearts to the vast possibilities of existence, inspiring us to co-create a reality that reflects the depth, diversity, and unity of the cosmos.

In this series, we will continue to explore these themes, building upon the foundation laid here to delve deeper into the models and concepts that illuminate the nature of reality and how we can live in alignment with this intricate understanding.

Through the lens of these varied models and constructs, each article in the series will aim to illuminate a different facet of the complex jewel that is human consciousness, ultimately guiding us toward a harmonious coexistence with each other and the planet.

The explorations certainly are just a beginning, replete with a desire to explore and understand, yet incomplete in the expansiveness of perspective and possibility you may consider along the way. Whether we desire to be, to know, or to do, the complexity is a construct we’ve enjoyed as thinking beings that love categories, detail, labels, and anything that can delineate parts and pieces. We’ve yet to observe the whole, the ONE, and explore our connections and experience from a single eye.

Zen says his life has been spiced with personal and professional opportunities that came through his nurturing of faith, love, and trust that dreams do come true. What built that faith, love, and trust began as an orphan told of his adoption just after his 4th birthday. The spice continued with experiences that span the gamut of the paranormal and include off-planet engagements over a lifetime. Can you say outlier? With two Master’s degrees and multiple certifications as well as an interesting professional history (ZenBenefiel.com) his passion turned to transformational life coaching just after the turn of the century, having become a rather astute cognitive scientist with extraordinary insight and intuition, he transformed Be The Dream (founded in 1988) from the intention of bridging best business and spiritual practices to a reality that has served hundreds. A decade and a half of writing was filled with cathartic wonders. His gifts are useful for Team Partnering as well, facilitating people, places, and things to build mega-structures with pre-construction teambuilding sessions. Divorced with four children, 9 grandkids, and 2 great-grandsons, he remarried after 30 years.
